Gentlemen, I am exploring some ideas for alternatives to the ETA 2824 movement, and am finding very few Swiss alternatives that have good cost/quality/availability ratios....

The Claro 888 is a movement I have seen mentioned here and there, referenced as a Swiss 18 jewel 21,600 beat. I see references to various accounts of its' history, origins and current manufacture; anybody have any solid info or first hand experience with one?

Ronda is a well known and well respected Swiss movement house, but I believe all their stuff is quartz now, is that correct?

Any other Swiss mechanicals that you guys are aware of that are contenders?  The Sellita family is one obvious and increasingly well known alternative; I have also seen a line called the "French ebauche" but cannot tell if that is the movement's name or a title...any others that you guys have feedback on?

21 Jewel ETA 2836 and 2846 are being used by Zeno and others. Zeno is also using an AS1738-Werk movement in some basic models.

It is a NOS (new old stock) 21 jewel A. Schild 1738 movement (self-winding, non-hacking, with semi-quickset date).
