hi again, as my watch collection expands i found myself in need for a watch winder. decided to build one myself, i got one kinda working, just need more info: Ive got a 3.5 RPM motor, is that OK? does the watch need to be in an angle? should the winder "shake"? how long should it work in a day? thank..... |

I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your questions but, I've considered duct taping autos to an out-of-balance washing machine and letting her rip. |

Thats for the Mrs. Tamir thats a tricky question and a cool idea-What Watches is it for How many watches you gonna be able to support? You gonna put it on a Timer? Believe me I am no mechanical maven so take this for what is's worth...;) 3.5 RPM seems mild enough. 700 revolutions per day would seem about right to keep most watches wound. A nice resource for winding information can be found here: http://www.orbita.net/pages/17100.htm You can do the math for the day but suffice it to say the winder should run in intervals, one for rotations and one for rest. The watches need to be angled so that gravity will pull to rotor down. The rotor really doesn't rotate as much as the watch rotating around it. No shaking whatsoever is called for.:shock: |

btw, It has 4 different programmed rotation modes. Mode 1: Each cycle will rotate 6 minutes in clockwise direction and rest 30 minutes then continuously repeat the cycle . Mode 2: Each cycle will rotate 6 minutes in anti-clockwise direction and rest 30 minutes then the cycle will continuously repeat itself. Mode 3: Each cycle will rotate 20 minutes for anti-clockwise direction and rest 10 minutes then rotate 20 minutes and rest 10 minutes. The same cycle will continuously repeat itself. Mode 4: Each cycle will rotate 10 minutes in clockwise direction and rotate 10 minutes in anti-clockwise direction, then repeat the cycle for 3 hours and rest 9 hours . These rotation modes are really cool. I like mode 4 as the winder needs to sleep too!  |

that is way cooler than mine, only goes one way & stops when i cut the power... maybe in the future i'll add a diffrent motor or just a chip... mine will be ready by tomorrow hopefully pics to follow soon... |
