Had to change my shorts...

That is an interesting combo from Doxa. There is talk on the Doxa forum of a new "Mil-Spec" which is undergoing a slow release (you know... details will be provided, then the wait, then the detail, then the dicsussion, then another detail - it is painful, but go to WUS if you want to be stretched)  and that will apparently have tubes as well.

I really like this one - but I expect that the price will be frightful. Is Doxa offering discounts to US buyers as it has done with some other models recently?

Doxa IS orange, really, isn't it? But here, unlike the the wonderful Mr Duronio whose opinions I almost always agree with, I actually like the black on SS for this one. It would look the dogs bollocks on mesh, but they have such small lug-widths that I would have to add another mesh to my collection of 2 (I now have a 22mm and a 24mm Omega Milanese) and the Doxa is another size down :?

At first blush, the 800Ti is an evolutionary model - but with a bigger size and those groovy tubes, it takes on the Ball Hydrocarbon (a fave that I do not own) and whips its butt IMHO. Yes - this one might just be worth saving for.

If y'all can direct me either here or in a PM tot he prople to speak with, I would like to follow up on this one.

Thanks for sharing!!

Not sure if I can resist this either.  First, my eyes are all over the Sharkie.  My mind now is leaning more toward the Pro.  Wow, which watch should I give it up to gather fund to this  mistake.gif

Nice...and the best dial has always been the "Sharkie"...but for some reason, in person, DOXA leaves me cold!  My bad!

Thanks O! Got it! It is the black Sharkie all the way for me... I haven't ordered yet, but will do so before December - my fingers are crossed that the AUD recovers a bit and lessens my pain.

Cheers all!

It seems to me that Doxa is in the recycle mode again which they have done several times in the past.

Doxa can recycle all they want cause' there will always be a WIS who will find something different in each timepiece that drives them to own 1 and in this case the use of Ti and tubes is just that reason perfect.gif

Ian this is the same watch, Doxa just decided to speed up the reveal because everyone was grumbling how long it was taking.

I haven't decided on the 800Ti yet. Unlike a lot of you guys that love the tube illumination, I have never really warmed up to it. I've had several watches in the past with tubes and ended up sellng them all. Plus, like someone else said, this is an evolution of the 750T. IMO it is not quite different enough for me to pull the trigger. I already have a 750T Pro, 750T Sharkhunter, 5000T Sharkhunter and 600T-Graph Sharkhunter which have very similar elements, I do love the use of titanium, very cool. I think if I didn't have the other Doxas already in the collection I would be pulling the trigger on this one.

Can't wait to start to see people's pics as they arrive.

I like the use of titanium, but something looks funny about the lume on the dial.  Maybe it will just take a little while to get used to.  A+ for the use of titanium though.

Bazza...this Doxa uses gas tubes/vials for lume like Ball,Luminox etc...unless you feel the use of tubes makes the dial/lume look funny ;)

Thanks DEMO - it took me a while to figure that out :?. All the talk about Mil-spec got me going... that and the fact that a few minutes earlier there was discussion over "there" by the company themselves that somehow this drawn-out reveal process was "fun" and they intended to carry on with it- I wongly assumed that they were not the same watch. I have no other DOXA in my collection, but for me - the 800Ti sharkie with its combo of treated Ti, the black face and the tubes is all it took. If I had other Doxas, I believe it would be much harder to justify, and in deferrence to WCB's comments - there is a certain sameness between clearly "evolutionary" models. This one just grabs me, though. Different enough, and priced well enough (in USD:( ), to pull the trigger when I have not done so in the past. I guess it is the same as buying an LE sometimes - it is the subtle differences that get ya going.

In my collection it will stand out like dogs whatsits. But I can see your point about it being too similar ot he 750 "look" to warrant some Doxa collectors with very similar pieces getting this one too.

Thanks for the heads up - always appreciated.

Thanks for the link, I didn't know that.  I was speaking purely from an aesthetic perspective, it is a diffferent look to the other models, but it is growing on me.  I have never seen a watch with tubes in the flesh, what is the consensus of the brightness of the tubes?

Tubes is funny things.  They're just so consistent!

Conventional lume is MUCH brighter that 1st 5 or 10 minutes.  But a few minutes later as the lume fades tritium tubes compare pretty well.  And after 30min or so the tubes are brighter than the lume.

Two or three hours later there's absolutely NO comparison.  Tubes are WAAY brighter, and they last.. and last.. and last.

Just depends what you prefer.. that initial nuclear glow type lume?.. or the slow but steady, always dependable glow of tritium tubes.

I love them both but would probably go for the black dial.

Love to see a lume shot with those dual tubes on the minute hand.

Id also like to see one on the beads of rice bracelet.

Unfortunately Ive never seen a Doxa in person although Ive wanted one since the 80s.  Whant kept me from snagging a Sharkhunter when they were about $1300 last January.  Dont know about Ti either.
