That definately is a beautiful watch and very affordable for a Kobold.  I have a question, it may be silly and you can let me know, but I'll ask anyway...  Is this watch that much different from the regular Soarway diver?  It seems that the only difference is the movement and does that make such a difference in the price?  Because this is priced at more than half off of many of the other models...  And thanks in advance for the education...:?

Maybe because Mike is rediscovering that direct internet sales at sane prices are his bread and butter. Also, Kobolds are no longer made in Germany by Fricker, nor anywhere in Europe. Maybe this allows for a lower price.

cam the last time I checked Switzerland is still in Europe and this Kobold is Swiss Made :D...and yes Kobold is manufacturing their own cases in Pittsburgh but I may be led to believe that he had plenty of the Soarway cases from Fricker still available but I will ask CS...Kobold also has their own caliber movement based on a NOS Swiss movement from the 70's largely in part due to Mike Kobolds long time relationship with Gerd Lang owner of Chronoswiss who located them from what I have read...right now I believe the Spirit of America is the only Kobold built entirely in Pitts....there is a awesome article in the latest IW about Kobold including a interview and a great read imohand6.gif

Ant to answer your question besides the obvious difference in movements, crown location, and blue second hand the Arctic Diver uses the LSD/Soarway case....the LSD is a LE of 150 and comes with more than a few extras and has a history linked to Cousteau ...while the Arctic is not an LE and will come on a canvas strap ....this is a promotion for loyal Kobold customers and an invitation for new fans to own a Kobold at a great price celebrating 10 yrs. in business...imho it is a awesome introduction to Kobold for those who have not experienced the quality....many of us here remember the old official Kobold forum at WUS and the early pricing which this watch is very reminiscent of 5-6 yrs. ago ....TY Kobold!thankyou.gif

Well I'm going to crash this thread and give my input.  I had Seal and sold it.  Hmm...Kobold watches are made like a tank, or rock..yad..yad.. you get my point.

Oscar I would say this is a brother to the Large Soarway.  If I had money to bet (but I dont), Oscar this watch will be a keeper like the Doxa in your avatar.

Gee I have flipped a lot of watches in the last 14 months.  When I think of the Kobold Seal my head hurts.  I have a feeling I will wind up with one of these in about a year.....subtlelaugh.gif

I do not know much about Kobold, except for the great reviews I have read...but this one seems to be a steal of a deal. I talked to Dale at Kobold today and am seriously contemplating getting some for myself and convincing some of the guys in my Department to buy in as well. We would be newbee's of course, so $1875 to us, but I'm thinking this watch would be sold for around $4200 after the pre-sale judging by their other prices and some hints:)
