That is crazy. But when you go out side the WIS world it is always a risk. Sometimes even from within it is a risk.

Most pawn shop people are ignorant about watches. There's one here that actually specialises in higher end watches.

To me, this sounds a lot more like a private beef between two people who may have had a history (why else would the clerk claim that the store was gypped out of tens of thousands of dollars from earlier sales?), than true ignorance.

It is not good news for any of the partys involved but one part of the story sounds strange to me...  I'm not sure but I was always under the impression that pawn shops really didn't gave you very good money for items.  Thought they were a place you go to in a pinch or if you didn't know where else to sell your item.  So why would someone sell some more expensive watches there multiple times? :?

For ease of the transaction. Some pawn shops are dealers in high end jewelry and tend to give better prices. If someone weren't concerned about getting top dollar and didn't want the hassle of multiple listing and maybe some "No Sales" or long sales periods, it would make sense to sell to a dealer or pawn broker.
You know, when you need some cash for the hunnies, pawn your Breguet! :dude:
