hi guys
would anyone here have ordered their stingray with the lume bezel insert? i am looking at ordering a stingray and did not know if that is even an option anymore. i saw one on a sales forum and it stated that it was a $150 option. could that be and is it worth it? just looking for some input before i order and start my 24 week wait. thanks

Hi Devin. I have a MKII Stingray and the triangle pip is luminous, but not the bezel insert itself. I think what they're referring to is the now discontinued acrylic bezel insert that had lume on the backside for the minute markers.

Not sure if it is offered or not, but I wouldn't spend the extra for it...My PRS 50 has it but it takes a beacon to get it going.

Yeah...that looks like the discontinued acrylic bezel option. It was one of the options for the custom models when the Stingray first came out, but was too expensive for MKII to continue with due to the fact that the bezel inserts had to be finished by hand. I like it and wish it had still been an option when I ordered mine.

I have a Stingray and while the lumed acrylic bezel would be cool, I don't think I would have gone an extra $150 for it. JMHO.

I have it onn my Stingray and it was one of the features that made me want the watch to begin with. I already had a PRS-14 with the acrylic bezel so I knew the lume would not be as good as on the hands/dial. The big advantage is if you get a small scratch on the bezel a little polywatch will rub it right out.

Hey Ron....doesn't the PRS-50 come with lumed bezel?....that would be a good option over the MKII and the $ conversion is better now for us in the states! hand6.gif

Yes...I believe that MKII originally had a "lume" acrylic bezel (an homage to the FF50), but it was discontinued...and yes the PRS-50 has the luminous markers on its acrylic bezel.  Both Great watches, but more different that one would expect.  When I got my PRS-50, I planned on flipping the MKII...but they are both distinctive timepieces!  Except for the original FF50 "homage" theme, they are very different in finish and look, dome v flat crystal, dial markings, bright v blasted finish...as to oem straps, the MKII is much more comfortable.  That said, I put both of mine on leather.

I agree with Ken two totally different takes on the BP FF. I did a comparison review of the two when the PRS-50 first came out. I tend to wear the 50 more than the Stingray as it has more bulk to it and I enjoy heavy watches. But if I was taking a long drive I would most likely take both the Stingray to wear while driving and the 50 for all other times.

Oagaspar yes it does and it would be better for us Yanks. I don't know if Eddie has any though and you also won't have the custom options that Bill offers. With either one you are getting a quality piece with great customer service.

Thanks guys for all the info and photos. I would have a hard time with the extra $150 for the bezel if it was still an option, but it is cool. i am now on the hunt for the PRS-50 and those do not seem to come up for sale very often. I have a MKII LRRP on order anyway so i am going to wait on the stingray. I think they both look really nice and the straps Ken has put on his makes me want both of them that much more but all in good time. thank you again!
