Does anyone know much about these "high end" Timex watches? Here's the link http://www.txwatches.com/ Thanks, Stu |

Timex timepieces are very well-built and provide superior value viz-a-vis price and features. Their Indiglo line was a great hit --- very reachable and very functional. They tried the Carriage line but it flopped commercially. The newer Timex high end line shown on the link you supplied is a line that is sort of limited and not made in the millions or hundreds of thousands. It's their attempt at joining the up-to-the minute style craze for watches. This I heard from a friend who used to workwith Timex. Personally, I like their designs, which I think they sub-contract to external design houses. But I am not a quartz guy so I don't follow the brand. I grew up on a Timex quartz from the age of about 12 to 17 and that watch took all the beatings it could get. |

Interesting designs but a but busy for my tastes. The quartz keeps me disinterested enough to stay away. They do have some lookers, though.:D |

Rusty & Pax, I can see and understand both of your POV. I too think they're a little busy, and besides, I have no idea what I'm supposed to with a Tachymeter. What is a tachy, and how do you measure it? :P |

Wow, I can't believe that those watches are Timex! I like several of them but then again I like chronographs. Although BRP and Pax hit the nail on the head with their statement about quartz and a busy dial. I, like BRP used to own a Timex for several years as a teenager and it sure was a tough watch. "It took a licking and kept on ticking". As Pax said the Tachymeter measures time over a known distance (average speed). One easy example is; when driving start the stopwatch function at a mile marker on a highway and then stop it at the next mile marker. The stopwatch function "second hand" will be pointing (usually the numbers are located on the edge of the dial) at your average speed for the one mile you just drove ie; for 65 mph the hand will be pointing at the number 65 (a little before the 11 position). I hope this helps and didn't just confuse you so much that you'll never own a chronograph. |

I think alot of us grew up with Timex and John Camaron Swaze with the " keeps on ticking ads " .... my favorite was when they straped a Timex to a boat prop and went around the lake .... My son bought one of the new Timex's but the Quartz keeps me away |

Retail is 450 plus on quartz flyback chrono. Lot of $$$ for a timex. Like the look though. |

And since I'm lost in space half the time, it would really come in handy. :D The other half I'm at work.:( |
