I am new to watch collecting. Is their a big difference between the ETA 2824 and the Miyota 8215. The only difference I can see is the the ETA is always alot more money and is usually swiss made. I have seen a lot of cool dive watches in the $300 dollar range with the Miyota and when I see something similar with the ETA it is in the $500 range. Just wondering if its worth it to save my money for the ETA movement? |

Try using the forum search or your favorite search engine for this. One of the most often asked questions for years! ;) Myself I love Miyota but will take a Eta over one any day of the week. :cool: |

It is a good idea to search the forum beofre asking but for you convenience I'll just give some major points.:D ETA = Swiss, hacking, handwinding Miyota = Japanese, non-hacking and only some models handwind Both a proven winners! yourock.gif I personally want an ETA movement over a Miyota but there are some great watches using Miyota movements. |

Please forgive the "abruptness" of one of my colleages ...he is generally a nice guy ( )...the Search Engine will do you well and their are varying personal opinions on the differences. My personal opinion is that the Miyota is a little more rugged and the ETA a little more accurate. They are both very fine movements, but, for some reason, the "Swiss Made" tag seems to demand more respect (and money)...although the Japanese make plenty of quality, high end watches that rival the Swiss. |
