Hey everyone I am obviously new on the site. I have always wanted to buy a nice new watch. I have been searching the site and I came upon a a thread about "best bang for the buck watches". I suddenly became very interested in the Aviator 45mm Mechanical Hand Wind Watch 6975645.

So my question is the following:
1. Is this in fact a good watch for the casual user?
2. Where is this watch made?
3. Is online purchasing reliable, more specifically any previous dealings with longislandwatch.com? (is the watch going to be a counterfeit unless it is purchased in a boutique store, etc.)

Thank you very much for your time, any help would be very appreciative.

That is a good Russian watch I have 2 much like it with the same movement. I'd say over the past 3 years at least 99% of the watches I have bought have been online.

For myself and gifts that is over 100 watches. Have had no issues other than now and then some slow wait times. :D

Not to many fake Russian watches out there. Some Russian style watches but that is a different story.

There are several online sources to get that Russian hand cranker from just look around for the best price and if in doubt just bring it up here someone may know about the seller or store.

Welcome to 3T and good luck. ;)

Welcome to 3T Thumbsup3.gif

I'm with Skip, I too have a couple of those watches, and I too have made 99% of purchases online over the last several years.

And to restate what Skip said, if you are not sure on something PLEASE ASK, you will get a very honest answer here to anything you need to know....watch companies, online retailers, etc.

Check out the links here, you can be assured every one of them is great to do business with.

I have owned a number of Russian watches. The 45mm Aviator with the Russian made 3105 movement is one of their best. It has an amazingly long run time on a full wind. Some even run over 60 hours. It is a good, generally reliable watch movement. The 3105 is pretty plain looking though. Nothing fancy. Lume is very good on the 45mm Aviators. Nice case and a bold, easy to read dial.

Note: Junkers and Graf Zeppelin are now using the 3105 movement in some of their new models.

The Aviator shown below is a Classic.

Hey guys thank you very much for the welcome, nice to have a forum where an amateur such as myself can feel free to ask questions.

I was more or less looking at this deal in particular, any feedback would be great

http://www.amazon.com/Aviator-45mm-Mechanical-Watch-6975645/dp/B001JT1G7W/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&s=watches&qid=1250241464&sr=8-10

If in fact this ends up being a good deal I'll try and post some pics :D

Thanks again for all your help.
