Hello, everyone!

It's been awhile since I "spoiled" myself with a new watch, so I think it's time now.  Really like the look of Doxa 1000T/5000T Sharkhunter, but also wondering about Omega's 300M Seamaster and their co-axial escapement.  Price-wise, they're about the same, so any input or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. What happened to Enzo?

I think you would be happy with either. But myself I like the design of the Doxa better. I have the Divingstar 1000 and love it.

As for Enzo they are still out there but have allot of competition now days. I sold mine off last Spring.

I'm with Skip, if I was given the choice I would go with the Doxa over the Omega

Big fan of both.  You simply cannot go wrong with either.  I agree on the more unique design of the Doxa.  I've owned four Doxa Subs and one Seamaster... but I only have the Seamaster now.  Not quite sure why that is, to be honest.

I love my omega, but i'm gonna sell it to get a breitling superocean. However, I will be getting another omega. Love the watch. Can't stand Doxa. I think the case is just terrible.

I am certain you would be happy with the build quality on either offering. The Omega is more versatile imho while the Doxa is more phunky. Having said that if I were going with a Doxa I would opt for a Pro, Divingstar or Caribbean to combine a nice colored dial with a sweet case imho, rather than a Sharkie.

I actually like the Doxa case design: at this point, really contemplating the 1000T COSC Sharkhunter or Caribbean.  I like the split writing on the dial and the old-fashioned diving helmet detail.

Are Omega's movement mods worth picking it over a mostly unmodified Doxa 2824-2 or 2892?  I hear the Omegas are really smooth.

The Omega co-axial movements are like butter. You can get an older model which has the modified 2892 which is slick too.:dude:

I'd suggest the Doxa. I just think it can better take the rigors of the deep.

The Omega co-axial is superb for accuracy and I'd say would be much more accurate than the Doxa.

I guess the Omega will have to wait: have just placed an order for a 1000T Sharkhunter COSC for $2,690 with free shipping goofy.  Wonder how long it will take to get to AK.

Although I do not have the Omega, I do love my Doxa 1000T. Still one of the most unique watches out there.  I just ordered the rubber strap from Doxa, can't wait to try it out.  I love the bracelet on it now, but you can always use a change of pace.  I'll post pics, once I receive it.

How reliable is Doxa's online ordering system?  I ordered on Sunday, got the auto e-mail, the account was charged, but now the charge disappeared, the $$ is back in the account, and I can't seem to get a hold of anyone via the 877 number.

I understand your concern.

I did not use the on-line ordering system when I ordered the watch.  But when I called to place the order they were friendly, professional and very thorough in explaining everything.  I got my order confirmation via email on a Friday and the shipment confirmation the following Wednesday.  Recieved the watch a few days later.

The strap I just ordered was through the online system. I have received the online confirmation of order, but straps do not ship the same way, so it takes about 10 days, and they provide no tracking info.

I'm not sure why you can't reach them by phone.

The number is constantly busy.  However, I got in touch with them via the Chat mode, and it appears that there is a chance the watch I wanted may be out of stock.  "They're checking on it".

I would choose a Brand name watch over a boutique brand watch every time if I really had to choose one or the other.

20 years from now you will be able to send your Omega back to Omega for service and they will be able to fix any problem with the watch including putting it in a new case if it needs it, you will get a new watch back if you wish it.

20 years from now if you send your doxa in to doxa for repairs you will get an apology letter back explaining how sorry they are that they can't fix your old and busted watch.

I realize a lot of people have been well trained by the boutique brands to think their thousand dollar watches are disposable but the truth is real watch companies service what they sell... forever.

In reality you are not getting anywhere near the same amount of watch for the money.

If you are really choosing one watch or the other long term serviceability would be a major factor to me, however if we are actually talking about which one to buy first then it's not such a big concern because the doxa really is a freaking great watch and I know not all my watches were created equal.

I guess what I am trying to say is if you will go hungry to buy a 2k watch then I would buy the Omega, if it's play money then buy whichever one floats your boat! ThumbsUp02.gif
