Alpha Watches

Guys
I have been seeing a lot of Alpha watches around the forums... but have never owned one or even seen one off the forums.
I was checking out their US website and they have some nice looking watches and 3 or 4 in particular I like. 3 are b/w 50-80 $ and one a Chrono at 140. And for the next week or so they have a 12% discount of that price.
I was wondering what your experience was with Alpha watches... quality of parts and finish? the way they look in reality close up? durability?...

The ones I like are the following and I'll post pics and links in case some of yuo want to look into these further.

1- The Carbon $81.99 an interesting fairly unique & good looking piece and I don't have a PDV watch.. I am concerned the black PVD coating/finish in this one may not be too durable.
20 Jewel Automatic Mechanical Multifunction Movement with Day/Date Display

2- The GMT $64.99 and I like two of their different versions/color.
35 Jewel Automatic GMT Movement

3- The Newman $139.99 A col looking chrono " a la Rolex"
Seagull TY2903 (ST19) 17 Jewel Manual Chronograph Movement

4 - The 'MilSub" $65.99 base don their normal sub. Ia m diggin this one quite a bit:)
TY 2806 Automatic Movement

Or their regular sub $64.99 which is a good basic to have. I don't own a rolex sub nor any of the imitations... though I was chekcing out the Steinharts. just too $$$ for now.
Seagull TY2806 21 Jewel Automatic Movement

5- Blue Sea $76.99 a la Omega, cool blue and cool hands IMO
Seagull TY2806 21 Jewells

What do you guys think?
I may get one for a friend as a gift for Xmas and one for my dad:)

Thanks! Brice

I've seen em, not cared too much for em. Mostly due to the xerox like ability they have to "homage" other watches. But Dang that no date Sub look a like is a nice price to see if you like the way it wears.
Ok, now I want to order one. DAMN YOU!!!!!!! I mean for 65 bucks, I've spent 65 bucks on most certainly gotten a lot less.

Homage's are homage's are homage's in my opinion. They all do the same thing. Copy other watches.

Like Mark I have never been a fan of their homage watches, that is pretty much all Alpha USA has, I purchased a Jump Hour from the HK site a year or so ago and for $50 you can't beat it, I bought one for my personal trainer too and she has been wearing it almost daily for a year...she loves it.

You should check the HK site, the prices are less for the same watch and i believe they include shipping...just have to wait a little longer for the watch.  The selection is also much larger.

I had an Alpha Seamaster copy from Alpha HK briefly.  It was a decent watch for the money.  There were some rough edges on the underside of the case, including the caseback.  The bracelet was pretty good and had solid endlinks, but rough around the edges.  The crystal was OK, but the quality was noticeably inferior than most mineral crystals I've encountered (lots of reflections).  The timekeeping was +30s/day for my example, which I considered acceptable given what it cost.

I thought the watch was worth the money, but I did not wear it much so I sold it to help fund a leather strap for another watch.

here we go again...the  rediscovering of Alpha,Invicta,Parnis etc... ...Alpha,Parnis to name a few are just very cheap replicas without the stolen brand names on them...nothing more or less! Alphas ran us around $10.-$20. when they 1st came around...a feeding frenzy ensued much like Parnis of late and the prices went up just like most ended up collecting dust and hit the garbage drawer...sorry for the rant but after so many years it starts to sound like a broken record to most of us and no matter how many times an experienced WIS says to stay away from these brands as your money is best spent elsewhere you still have to see them!....I was told the same and yes I still had to see them...if I had to do it over I would have saved my $$$...the Parnis is kinda fun for the $ :D

They are decent $50-100 watch. Don't expect anything more. As long as you treat them as a fashion item not a serious time piece . Mine looks like a panny and tells time. it isn't finished like one or as pretty as one  nor as accurate but for 50 bucks delivered it works on days when I want a big clunky polished case watch without having spent 3 mortgage payments.

Since you are asking for advise I will give you mine :D.  I do not want to offend nobody and this is my personal opinion and nothing more, so I'm not right or wrong, it's just what I'm thinking about that brand.  I never had an Alpha watch and I personally don't care about them.  For me these are just another company out there making 'copies' of well known brands, end of story.  If you're looking for a beater, well go for it, you can't go wrong for $50 or $60 and i'm sure it's not a bad watch.  But if I were you, I would spend my money elsewhere Brice.  Wait to buy something that you will not be selling in a month from now.   The look of a watch is one thing, but when there's only a look and no soul, the honeymoon usually don't last for long.  So good luck fighting your watchaholic need, I know it's not easy when it looks good but...;)
