Still pretty new here but enjoying the content... I currently have a number of swiss auto divers, and am looking to expand. I own a number of seiko and citizen watches...but no divers. Just dress watches and the like. So...I am thinking about collecting some Japan Divers for 2010...and have started a prelim list: Citizen Aquazilla Seiko Prospex Marine Master Pro Orient Pro Diver Watcha think? What am I missing? I think you can't have a collection of Japanese divers without a Seiko Monster |

redsub...loving your preliminary list of japanese divers!!!...a great, great, list you've got going!!...the seiko prospex marine diver and orient pro diver are on my list as well. Agree with what others are saying here....I picked up a pair of seiko monsters over the past month and I'm shocked at the value per dollar (really, you will be shocked at what you are getting for the price of entry)...really phenomenal divers...just spent over a week with the black monster in Mexico on a family vacation and really bonded with it..."must haves" for your collection...I kept asking myself "why did I wait so long to add a monster". Tremendous value and so solidly built. ...an unsolicited pic of my pair purchased just a few weeks ago... ![]() |

I spent the last 2 years into Seiko divers, so you have tons of models to consider! haha! The current classics are the Monsters, posted above, but also the SKX007, 009, 173, all their Kinetic divers ...and on and on! hahaha!smile8.gif I have 3 Orient divers too...a Brazilian version KIng Master 200m auto pepsi bezel, a quartz diver 200m found in Denmark, and a vintage midsized version auto.woohoo.gif |

Redsub, all the inputs made by the other 3T members above are on the bullseye. In terms of order, I'd suggest the Seiko Monsters first, then the Seiko Pepsi and the Seiko Sumo before you move on to the Prospex line.;) |

I like and have owned (albeit briefly) a OM...and while they are great quality for the money they don't do it for me (it is my goto "gift" watch and I would never knock it). I know this opinion will be met with much shagrin...but thats why it is an opinion. When it comes to Seiko I like the 6r15 movement (with hack! + 50 hr) better than the 7s26. While I probably won't start with the marine master auto, I am considering the prospex 6r15 200m, which to me seems like a great watch for less than $1000. This is still a hard sell for me becuase I can get a Autozilla for less. ...don't get me started on the Orient pro 300m vs the 200m...which is kinda of like the OM vs the 6r15...only worse. |

No problem redsub!!! Hey, one of the things I like most about the Monsters is that a Monster looks like a Monster looks like a Monster...and nothing else. If the Monster look is not for you...well, that's just fine with me in the world of WIS!!! The 6r15 movement is a fantastic movement and as you already know is present in the Seiko Prospex Sumo (I've got the black SBDC001 which was modified by the original owner with a sapphire crystal and "type-s" seconds hand). I would recommend it without reservations...it's a fantastic piece!!! (and you can go Black, Blue, or Orange depending on what you like). It is a fantastic piece that is, like most Seikos, great bang for the buck!!! Has great wrist presence, but is easily one of the easiest, most comfortable on the wrist I own. The case work on the Sumo is a thing of beauty with the contrasting polished and brushed surfaces (you have to really hold one in your hand and inspect closely the machining work to really appreciate, but once you do, you will be saying "how do they do all this for the price of entry?"). I'm with you on the far too many great watches...sometimes I think my "wish list" is headed somewhere close to infinity.
