Hi Guys

I have been playing around with the idea of producing a very limited amount of:
Sting Ray- Rose Gold it will be coated Rose Gold of course to bring the price to something reasonable.
The case will be all rose gold
Bezel will be black with numbers in Rose Gold
Dial will be black.

Would love to know your opinions ?

cheers

I am a recent convert to rose gold. My Planet Ocean is one example. I have said before that the effect of rose gold on the wrist is quite stunning, and that the material should not be discounted by those who have never tried it on their wrist. I get nothing but positive comments on mine, and it gives me good vibes, too.

For similar look, I suggest that my WIS laddies and lassies have a look at the Alpina 48mm regulator and non-regulator (superseded) Avalance Extremes in this material combination - IMHO they are very beautiful and lust-worthy. The 2009/10 versions - not so much mistake.gif .

Now this Stingray on rose gold might just be VERY nice - especially with the rounded lugs and case shoulder design, which will make for interesting reflections and lift the watch to the next level IMHO.

I add my vote for some mock-up pics to see what the final layout would be. Cost is a consideration. But please run the pics by us, Alon, and let the fun begin!

Cheers - IanM hand6.gif

Hi Alon,

Love to see a prototype of a rose gold case. While price is always an issue, the plating must be thick enough to take the wear and tear.

Regards,

Alex

I will post some image rendering during the weekend the case will be the same case sting ray.
I think we will go with 10 micron plating.

I think a rose gold case with a black dial would be a good one to offer to WIS but somehow it seems ---and this is just my opinion ---- more appealing to older gentlemen. The IWC Portuguese line, for example, in gold case and black dial is already preferred by many of my older friends.

But a good alternative or choice to offer would be the same rose gold case BUT with either a 1) silvery white dial, 2) milk dial or 3) beige ivory. This would be similar to the default options of the luxury brands like PP, VC and AP, to name a few.

As for the technical side, with just 10 microns coating, after the passage of time, a scuffed or fading rose gold case will stand out much more and get more noticed, if the dial were black rather than if the dial were a lighter color as I detailed above.

Hope this helps.;)

I remember reading about a rose gold PVD coated watch, would that process be more durable than just regular gold plating?

But I like the others would love to see a mock up.
