This is a good report on Accutron Service. I have had an Accutron 200 coke-bezel diver for a few years that I purchased from shnoop.com. In posting a picture here awhile back, I noticed some paint missing on the dial at 9:00. See picture. I sent the watch in per the Bulova site instructions. I got an email telling me they had received the watch. A few weeks went by and I got another email explaining that the dial was not covered under warranty. This part was covered for two years. The cost to replace the dial was $25 + $9 labor and I paid shipping both ways. I ok'ed the repair and two weeks later I received the watch back well packaged and with a brand new dial. Bulova-Accturon has one of the best after sales services. Even though the ownership of the company has changed has hands several times over the decades,it's still nice to hear that they've went of their way to provide excellent customer service. Thank you for sharing. Cheers, Simon |

I also got an SX-200 coke-bezel chronograph from Shnoop, which arrived, of course, DOA (the minute hand was not attached. Shnoop, of course, with there wonderful Invicta-like Customer Service basically told me to shove it. (Hence...no more purchases from Shnoop the Grifters). I called Bulova-Accutron Customer service with some apprehension because, of course, Shnoop had not included any warranty papers either. They asked me to send it to them on my dime (not a big deal) with a copy of my dated receipt. 2-weeks later, the watch came back, repaired and in perfect condition with a note thanking me for buying Bulova-Accutron! Strangely, I also got a Blue SX-200 3-hander which is still sitting in the box never worn, never sized! |

I wish more watch companies out there,with no names mention, would do the same thing for their customers. By providing a UPS tracking # via email you don't have to worry about having the watch lost or stolen. Keep in mind, that most dial refinishing are anywhere between $80 and above,at $34 for everything is very impressive. Congratulations mcwright. Cheers, Simon |

stopped in the local Rolie AD yesterday to see the new 42mm Date-Just which was superb and took a look at the new line of Bulova-Accutrons he is now carrying and was raving about,...especially of how responsive their CS was. ....I was impressed at the quality of designs and assortment of movements being offered in these watches both Swiss and Asian...auto and quartz including the new HEQ and all were reasonably priced. ....I ended up ordering one of the new Bulova Precisionists which will be the 1st quartz watch I have purchased in years and considered a HEQ...it is a marvel in watchmaking and the second hand just glides across the dial which beats 16 times each second instead of just 1 and is accurate to 10 sec. per year. ...I went for the Champlain model as pictured on the cover of their brochure below after seeing the same watch in the red accent SS/Ti version and the PVD with blue accents on black CF dial,both equally as nice....very retro/toolish look at 46.5mm/300m water resistant. Very cool Oscar...I know that most of around here are mechanical calibre lovers for their soul and excellence in history, design, and watchmaking (and that will likely never change due to our love of that "hands-on" interaction and experience)...but the idea of a HEQ quartz with a sweep second hand that sweeps smoothly at 16 beats per second and keeps that kind of accuracy for under $1K is quite appealing.  Remember guys...at 28800 BPH most of the movements we know and love are moving the seconds hand 8 times per second. Very cool...I can't wait to hear your impressions on this one once it arrives Oscar!!!  |

I only own one watch with what I consider a vintage movement...Dievas Flieger Timer with a vintage ETA 2452 (modern watch w/a vintage movement if you will)...this one also beats at a leisurely 18000 BPH (5 beats per second), and is great fun to watch "keep time"...LOVE IT!!! Like Oscar says above, this HEQ quartz beating at 16 beats per second will literally "glide" around the dial for sure. Heck, even the "high-beat" mechanicals out there are beating at 10 beats per second (I know of only one movement (by Seiko I think) that approaches 12 beats per second and sits in an ultra-high end $500K + Credor timepiece). Of course, in terms of perceived "smoothness" in automatics, the Seiko Spring Drive is a bit of a different (very cool) animal. Gosh...I apologize...I feel like I have highjacked this thread...definitely not my intention...Please forgive me!!!

the movement they use is supposed to be their very own proprietary movement by Citizen who owns Bulova...it was a big hit at Basel as well....it has a frequency of 262.144 Khz of the exclusive 3 prong quartz crystal in the Precisionist,the highest of any watch in the world and claims to be the most accurate watch in the world as well ... 8 times greater than a 2 prong crystal...all at a very affordable price compared to other HEQ watches selling in the mid thousands and higher imo.I hope to have mine by weeks end.Drool_27.gif |

Oscar did you ever get yours? I saw these last night at Macys and was pretty impressed with the watches. Not enough to pull the trigger at full retail. They had a number of nice variations. Smooth as silk! |
