So I'm planning on buying a new diver here within the next month and i was just wondering which one most of you would chose of the bunch? No matter what I'm going to choose the one i like the most regardless of the opinions , but I was just curious which one is favored the most, thanks guys!

Seiko Sumo (blue) my #1 pick as of now (i have a obsession with seiko divers)

Helson Shark Diver (ETA)

Deep Blue Master 2000 Day/Date Diver

Boschtett Cave Dweller (ETA)

As you can see they are all in the $500-$700 range, so if anyone has any more suggestions feel free to post them , thanks again!

For Helson, I would have go for the Sharkmaster...
If not, the Sumo would be my choice: The 6R15 movement is a bad'ss and the Sumo is a 100% inhouse Seiko Japan.

Out of this group I would personally go for a Sumo in blue.

Sumo, though I have to say I like all of them!
I never should have sold my Sumo...

Cheers,

I'd go with the Sumo also. I used to own one, and it was my favorite watch by far. Seiko did a really good job with the blue dial. The only reason I sold mine was to help fund a Doxa 1000T caribbean. My wife bought the Doxa for my birthday, but she wasn't willing to pay THAT much for a birthday present.

If you go with the Sumo and want to put it on a rubber strap, I highly recommend that you buy the sawtooth rubber strap. It looks killer on the Sumo.

I'd go Seiko Sumo, SBDC003...the blue one. But you might want to also smell out the Seiko Sumo in black, SBDC001.

I used to think blue was the top color choice until I got my black one. The Sumo looks bigger in black than in blue.

With 20mm lugs, easy to find a vintage rubber waffle strap that will fit it. Go Sumo!thumbsup.gif

Sumo, for sure.

The four watches you mentioned seem to fall into two different size categories.  The Sumo's numbers suggest it's pretty big, but it wears small for it's size -- it sits quite low and is extraordinarily comfortable.  The others are, to my eye, MUCH bigger on the wrist based on all the photos I've seen.

Well it seems to be the Sumo is favored watch here, lol

I do have the rubber Seiko strap that i got for my Sawtooth, but I'm sure i will leave sumo on the bracelet.

I have my eye on a few other Seiko divers that I'm going to pick up over the winter (about 4-5 more) so i will be sure to post some pics when i get them, thanks again for the opinions, guys!

I don't care for the Sumo. The watch looks top heavy (to me) due to the fat lugs. The bracelet appears to be too small fitted between the robust lugs. Needs thinner lugs and a wider bracelet. IMHO.

I'd pick the Helson. whichone.gif

Chino Watch is where I ordered mine -- they are an AD in Tokyo. Excellent service, quick shipping, good prices.

I have owned none of these, so take this for what it's worth...I hear great things about folks who purchase the Sumo, and I really like the looks of the Helson, though you probably couldn't go wrong with any of the three.

Good luck.

Yep. Majority rules subtlelaugh.gif Sumo in blue is your winner amongst these choices IMHO. Don't be surprised at how "black" the blue looks in some light situations, though. I have owned both black and blue Sumos. Supremely comfy and killer lume!

Upgrade the bracelet with a Marinemaster clasp (to get the ratchety extension) (also available from Higuchi or from the secondary market on occasion) and you'll have yourself a fine watch.

Cheers and good luck! Show us when you decide!

I'm with Sumo blue too. ;)
Sharkmaster as well, but wasn't in the running.
The Deep blue and Shark divers are huge, well the CD is too and looks like a hunk of metal. ;)
I think the Deep blue and Helson have lume bezels. ;)
good luck.

Also wanted to Thank You for the link to purchase a SUMO .

I FINALLY pulled the trigger after so many members raving about ithappy guy.gif.

My problem is that every-time I think of Seiko/Citizen I think of the calculator watches from back in the days, which ironically isn't even Seiko or citizen they were Casio's
& TO TOP IT OFF I have seen the new Spring Drives personally & they r a fantastic piece to any mans collection.mini me.gif
