I have a 3 yr old SWI 6 head winder and 3 heads don't work. I'd like to fix it myself since it's out of warrenty so my question is does anyone know of a good place to purchase winder motors? I don't feel like sending it back unless I go a new one with no cost to me....Any help? TIA

I have a 6 & 8 head SWI winder as well & 3 have stopped working on the 8 & 3 have stopped on the 6 as well, mine r still under warranty , I called SWI they told me they cant fix them but they would give me my $$ back, as they dont sell them anymore. BAD C/S if you ask me, I need the winders more then the cash.I also asked them what kind of motors & they gave me the #'s to the motors but I have since lost it.I broke n2 the winders & WOW how small r all the parts...So you r probably S.O.L. as I am... F****N TV brand crap pisses me off somethin fiercemad.gif

unfornately those winders were terrible and would likely cause more damage to your watches in the long run than worth while...I had 1 and gave it away with a warning to not put anything but Asian cheapies on it aka Alphas and still have 1 here that I was going to take apart and post a few years back to show how cheaply they were made...the motors were too small to handle any watch larger than 40mm ....buy an Orbita and you can rest with ease your watches will be fine.
....but if you feel compelled to fix that one you can find those little electric motors at any hobby shop but I would suggest bumping it up a bit as far as size which I am sure you know Gregger being an EE.

...my Son just finished up a co-op alternate portable energy source-solar for a project a Co. hired the University to look into for them...I should ask him to do a solar or wind generated/stored multiple watch winder...have you done any of this kind of stuff?

We are just starting to look at solar due to some of the government programs.....We just try to design our bldg's in the GREEN and LEED kinda way.....I think LEED is a load of crap anyway....adds more cost to bldgs...
