Steinhart just announced a new arrival (it's available NOW), the Steinhart Apollon.

I really like the Ti case design (which is the same as the previous Proteus LE), and also the nicely designed sandwich dial, and interchangeable bezels (including 3 total - ss, dlc, and Bronze).

I like it so much, I placed my order today!!! (I know...for cryin' out loud, no self control!!!crap.gifsubtlelaugh.gif).

Can't wait to see this one in-the-metal.  Tremendous design and great bang for the buck IMO.

What do you guys think?

The specs are as follows:
- Titanium case, 45mm without crown
- Engraved stainless steel case back
- 24mm lug width
- 30 ATM water resistance
- Black and metallic gray sandwich dial, BG W9 Super LumiNova™
- Domed sapphire crystal, double anti-reflective coating on the inside
- 3 exchangeable bezels, brushed stainless steel, DLC-coated stainless steel and full bronze
- ETA 2824-2 automatic movement
- Swiss made
- Price incl. European VAT € 440.-

A bit too tall for my taste, 17 mm, but otherwise a very striking timepiece.

Just when I was getting ready to tell my wife to get me the Tortuga, I see this. Anyone know if these are limited or not? That bronze bezel is smoking.

As far as I know, the Apollon is not a LE piece...so the good news is you should still be able to get one in the future if you don't jump on the purchase button right away.

Thanks. I don't think I would do both. I definitely like this one a little better than the Tortuga. That bronze bezel sets it off. Did they let you know how soon before your arrives? I want to give my wife enough time to get it here if I go this direction.

I don't have a delivery confirmation, but Steinhart deliveries are usually very fast...I have ordered leather straps from them in the past and they arrive via FedEx from Germany to the USA in a matter of 2-3 days.  Awesome and fast shipping!

I just placed the order this afternoon, so I don't have a shipping confirmation quite yet.

Fantastic isn't it. I especially love the bronze bezel.

Despite having the very similar Proteus I'll probably be ordering one of these in due course.

Also hopefully Proteus owners will be able to persuade Steinhart to produce a bronze bezel for the Proteus. :-)

The Bronze bezel option would be great for Proteus owners too.

Being a Proteus owner, you wouldn't happen to know what the lug-tip to lug-tip (ie. length) distance is for this case?  I looked for it, but could not find it anywhere.

I haven't heard anything other than the watch wears very comfortably (I'm sure the Ti case weight is helping a far amount here too).

I'm looking forward to seeing this one in the metal soon!

Sure thing, I just measured it and the full lug tip to lug tip length is 56mm and the lug screw bar centre to lug screw bar centre length is 49mm.

The watch does wear extremely comfortably and you're right, this is due to its surprisingly light weight. However, it's a very tall watch with vertical sides so it still has difficulty fitting under a shirt sleeve in my experience.

I am within my comfort zone for lug to lug length!  sweet!

...sometimes not being able to fit it under a shirt sleeve is a good thing...thumbsup.gif...thanks again for the quick reply.

A lot to like about this one. Like it a lot, and especially the "3 included bezels" part:0)
Watch fund a bit short at the moment as I just bought a new way to expensive bicycle, otherwise I just might have pulled the trigger on this one. But as it´s not an LE, I might just do it in the future.
Can´t wait until it pops up in someones "new arrival", and see it in the wild.

I was afraid I would like it. And I do, a lot. Too bad it'll have to wait. But it is so good to know that there are people who can afford their little joys. I am happy with that too. Wear it healthy my friend and may it always tell the time for good news only.

Looks like they may have sold what they had on hand. I just checked their site, and now it say the watches can be preordered and that they wont ship before Sept 15. Guess I had better preorder.

That was the first thought that came to mind, too....a watch with all the goodies at an incredibly sweet and friendly price point....hmmmmmmm...........But it's still a great looker and I can't recall seeing anything out there with the same appeal, though.
