I will get one soon, there is a lot about that watch that is not in the article.  They harden the steal also, and that steal is very limited in quantity that they will be sold to the public & very strict guidelines.  That is a controlled substance covered by ITAR (International Traffic In Arms Regulations) from what I understand.

I have a U1.

It's a super nice watch, keeps excellent time, maybe +2 a day. A couple minor drawbacks. The watch is AR coated on both sides of the crystal, a very cool look but it captures any waterspots and you're always cleaning it. The deployant on back is huge on the rubber strap and mentioned as a problem for smaller wrists, but I've gotten used to it. Watchbuys has that awful waitlist but there are some used ones showing up now and I'm sure you could count on no scratches because of the steel.

If you're all about steel and great engineering Damasko's DA 36 is also one to consider. I love mine as much as my U:

Some say this "ice hardened" steel is better than the sub steel Sinn uses. This is also keeping time damn near spot on with a 2836 mvmnt. adjusted to chrono specs (but not certified).  The Damasko goes for 450 brit, a fair chunk cheaper than the U. Timefactors also has a 4 wk wait on this tho. Someone's selling a used DA 36 at Timezone currently. Just remarkable specs on this watch here:
