Seiko when buying one is it worth purchasing one made in Japan Vs. Not?  There is a theme can you tell.  Was thinking about buying Seiko 5 Divers Auto.  the Jap. version is $20 higher is it worth the higher price?

I had to take a look at my Seikos including the Seiko 5 Superior models I have and they all happen to be Made in Japan :)...I have seen some of the Singapore models and didn't notice much of a difference .I did have one of the Non Japan Seiko 5 divers and thought it was Cheap in comparison..it had a rolled bracelet and felt "Tinny"...However I wasn't aware the Compass which you are looking at even came in 2 versions...Maybe some of the members who own this model as it was popular a while back can better answer your Question :D

Black dial with yellow/orange hands looks nice!

JMHO, but I don't think it is worth the extra money (I own about 15 Seikos).  Regardless of where they are made, they are made under worldwide Seiko quality control processes!
