Rado watches if you see one with the anchor on the dial it a mechanical watch. The quality, and finish is there, my compadre Oscar could attest to that, ask him. Take advantage of the price before they become popular again. They are known for innovation even in the 60's they had sapphire crystal prior to Rolex. I am considering this watch very heavily. I believe Orolus is offerring a chronometr version just north of $500. Do you gents have a better source or more information? My one concern is the case size is 38mm which might seem a bit small. thanks for any info, Pax

If I am going North of 1k, I have to go SMP. I am waiting for soemone to buy my Sportster whcih will be quickly converted to a GMT Master II and and SMP if all goes as planned... I do have a teaching gig coming up that pays pretty well for a day's work(I've already spent 40 hours on the course material) and I like to take a portion of that pay out and get myself a little somethin' somethin'... Here's the RADO I have been eyeballin'... If I read correctly it is COSC certified. I don't know if I want the facetted crystal or not... http://www.orolus.com/cgi-bin/ShoppingCart.cgi?action=ShowPic&search_for=R12552233&search_brn=RADO&search_sty=Diastar%20The%20Original&lowest_price=0&highest_price=99999&ori_action=Go&detail_category=.&detail_sizes=.&detail_keyword=.&search_logo= Pax

The one Oscar has is a tad bigger, size is about 40x50 mm excluding crown. Here is a picture with the Doxas for size comparison. ![]()
