Hamilton Watches

The movements in them are they Swiss/China Eta product?

I was just taking one apart for fun and started to look.  A light bulb comes on I have seen this before it looks just like a hybrid product that I have handled in the past better, but still similar.  The movement says swiss not swiss made.

Thats a good question!  I own two Hamilton Khakis the first one is seven years old a Field Khaki 25jewel automatic! It has a Made in China case and band and says Movt. SWISS under the 6 numeral!  The Rotor says Hamilton SWISS 25jewel on it!!  The second Hamilton is a Navy Divers Khaki it says Swiss made on the Case back!!  The Boxes are made in China and the Instructions are printed in Swizerland!!  They are both very well made Timepieces for the money!!  My Movado Museum Automatic has a box made in China and the Movement made in Swizterland!!  The same goes for my Bulova Acutron Box made in China and watch movent made in Switzerland!!!  Enjoy your Hamiltons their very well made watches for the money!!  Have a great day !!!  Fred Wright

Nope, as far as I know all current Hamiltons use Swiss ETA movements.  Most of them have enough Swiss content to legally use Swiss Made on the dial, although they usually put it on the back of the watch.  I think they keep it off the dial to play up the whole American angle.

Some of the watches don't rate Swiss Made, but they still use real ETA movements.  My Khaki Mechanical had a case made in China, but the movement was Swiss made ETA 2804-2.

This only applies to watches from the past 3 or 4 years.  I don't know what the deal is with watches made earlier.

The funny thing the movements on the Tissots I have and the other Swatches all say Swiss made on the movement, and are the swiss product.  None of the Hamiltons that are made in the last few years that I have say that, they say swiss, which is the hybrid Swiss/China Eta movements.  Not even my Hami X-Wind movement says Swiss Made.  The Versace, Trias, and JL are all marked that way.

According to the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH, "Swiss Made" and "Swiss" mean the same thing. :)

http://www.fhs.ch/en/swissm.php

Both can contain up to 50% non-Swiss parts by value, but must be assembled and inspected in Switzerland.

Read the Sticky in this section above "What Swiss Made Means":)....Swiss Made on a Caseback Only Generally Means the Caseback is Swiss Made :P and the 50% Statement Pretains to the Whole Watch as Long as the Movements Components is 50%  Swiss and it is cased/assembled in Switzerland.....:D..This subject has been discussed at length here several times...as I mentioned a description of Movements w/pics is in the Catalogue Cheeps has posted in the reply I mention here...Order it and Many will be Surprised :P The Swiss Game has been Played out in several scenarios over the Years the only Way to know what You are getting is to Buy Purebreds like Jean Marcel....100% of that Brand as well as all it's components is Swiss Made ..others like Patek,Rolex, etc. are the same and the list Goes on...My Vintage Hamiltons all say Swiss or Swiss made on the Dial and Movement...anywhere else is a Crap Shoot IMHO:) According to the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH, "Swiss Made" and "Swiss" mean the same thing. :)
