$100 each? That's pretty much what I would pay for them. I know some people love the look of Renato watches, but they do nothing for me at all.

Tony, I don't get it..I do but I don't:? if you know what I mean. I love Omega but I think they're getting into territory that price wise you may consider other brands....say Renatotoon1.gif

Hey Guys,

For those of us who are new to watch collecting and 3T how about filling us in on ShopNBC. Seems like folks don't think much of Eyal, Dan, David and others. I saw the Renato show last night and damn if I didn't almost buy one of the watches! There is obviously a "back story" here that I don't know anything about.  I feel like there is an inside joke here that I don't get. Can someone fill the rest of us new folks in so we know what you know? Thanks.

Actually, I ordered a Renato automatic w. MOP dial on a leather strap a few weeks ago. I wound up sending it back; that "Beast" design did nothing for me when I saw it up close. face5.gif

On the brighter side: I have a Steinhart Aircraft 8 on order that should arrive later this week: Now, we're talkin'! It's always good to stop and consider what else you might be able to get for about the same price as one of those Renato extravaganzas ...

Jsb,

The issue with SlopNBC is the retoric and half truths that spew from the mouths of the hosts and there guests.

As far as Renato, many of us purchased the originals a while back and had many issues. Daniel said he would address them and did not...sour taste. If you lookat my original post, you can see that the Shop NBC prices are a joke...even for the newer models.

Hope this helps:)

Veeblefetzer,

Thanks for the refernce to Stenhart. The Limited Edition Grand Marquis is a wickedly awesome looking watch. Will have to sell the wife's card to afford it. Hope she doesn't mind. :)

Veebs! Woohoo! I've missed your posts.

Please post some pics of the Steinhart when it arrives. Can't wait to see some "real" pics of that one.

You can get some good deals on SNBC if you know what you're looking for, and it helps to be familiar with the true retail prices. Some of the best deals are with Lior and Swiss Watch International because he offers some "real" brands once in a while.

SNBC, like most shopping channels, tends to fill its presentations with overblown descriptions. Most of their brands offer some decent watches (and some lemons) but they aren't as "high end" as their promoters would like you to believe. One thing that happened with some of the Renatos is that the link screws fell out and the bracelet would come apart. (I think one guy even lost his watch while he was riding his motorcycle...)

Hang out on the watch forums, read some watch magazines, and check out prices in jewelry shops and in stores like Tourneau. You'll start to get an idea of what a particular watch usually sells for.
