3T Members, and others, can buy from TJ MAXX with confidence. Here is an email from TJ MAXX confirming the fact that the Hammies are covered by factory warranty!


Here was my 2nd email to TJ MAXX (the 1st response was a little lacking in detail)

I think I need a little more than an "understanding". What is the process to send the watch to Hamilton for warranty work. I purchased the watch brand new in box. It has a little booklet, but nothing I can find about warranty service. Do I simply send it in with a copy of my sales receipt from TJ MAXX showing proof and date of purchase? In one there is no warranty card/booklet. In the other, there is a warranty booklet that states, "This warranty only comes into force if the warranty certificate is dated, fully and correctly completed and stamped by an official HAMILTON dealer ("valid warranty certificate")". The one warranty certificate/booklet that I have, is not so stamped.

Please advise.

Thanks, Oscar..............I did it mostly because there is one totally unknowledgeable nitwit over there who thinks that his uneducated opinions are, indeed, fact.  He jumped in the "Hammy" thread over there when everyone was having a great time with it to cast his usual uninstructed negative pall over it.  I don't think he's ignorant of the facts, I just think he's too stupid to grasp them!!!subtlelaugh.gif

This is vaguely related. I went to marshalls and found out they have kenneth cole watches at good prices (they are quartz of  course) The designer shoe outlet in Berwyn has the same kind of watch sets you can find on times square for 10 bucks or so.They are not highly recommended though they will probably keep good time.I do not have a TJ Maxx nearby.By the way Marshalls is owned by TJ Maxx.

Good deal Ken. I'd always been just a little leary of the warranty thing, not at all due to Rob's negative spin. I've considered trying to pick one or two up at TJ's, maybe churn one or both on the 'bay. If I could sell one for a decent price, the one I kept would essentially be free.

Way to go, great follow up!

That's great news.  I have a Hammy at their service center in NJ getting repaired.  I bought it from TJ Maxx back in June.  I had it for about 3 weeks and it broke.  I could have taken it back to TJ Maxx for a refund, but I like the watch so decided to send it to Hamilton for repair.  I was told that TJ M was not and AD so to make a long story short I got TJ to knock of the price of the repair ($246) that Hamilton was going to charge me, off of my purchase price.

I too, talked to TJ Corporate CS and was basically blown off.  Kudos to you for getting it done.  I'll be calling the Hamilton repair center today to see what's up.

rws in nc what was wrong with the watch and what movement was it?  I would love to get in on that racket.  To be the original manufacturer of the watch and movement it break and then charge to fix it, 3 weeks after sale.  If I was Swatch I would start unloading all the seconds there, and charge people to fix my own production errors, or maybe I am just having an Invictim flash back.

Hamilton's very seldom break due to Swatch having control of the entire production process.  That and they actually know how to build a watch.

It is a the Khaki field automatic chronograph 42mm with the valjoux 7750 movement.

The register at the "12 o'clock" position, wouldn't increment when the large second hand passed 12.

TJM was very accomodating and agreed to refund my money, even after their return period, but I wanted to keep the watch. Ultimately, TJM refunded the amount that Hamilton was charging me to fix it.  That was a great jester on TJ's part.

Edit:  It's 8:30 EST.  The Service Center in Secaucus, NJ opened at 8:00.

I called them.  They still stand by their position that TJ Maxx is not an AD, nor do they have any "agreement" to make any sort of warranted repairs.  I guess this thing is still unresolved.

That is funny O, my Tj-Maxx barely gave me an inner box and no documentation.  I do live in the sticks where they were amazed to find out  that "They make watches that don't take batteries, is that a new thang.  Boy it is really amazing what they can do now a days".  Sorry had to throw that one in there just for a since of perspective.

I can only say that I've filled out the paperwork, had TJ MAxx stamp the warrantee booklet, sent a copies of my receipt and warranty page with their stamp, only to be told, by Hamilton that TJ MAXX is not an AD and they would not honor the warranty.  TJ Maxx told me that the Hamilton watches were purchased from a third party, not Hamilton.  I don't really know what all of this means except I have to pay for my repair.  Afterall, in the end, it doesn't really matter that TJ MAXX says that there's an "agreement" between them and Hamilton.  What only matters is that Hamilton agrees and will honor the warranty and so far, they don't honor it, in my case.

This thing is getting more and more bizarre.  TJMaxx Corporate office just called me and she too, emphatically stated that TJM are Authorized Dealers.  She told me that she was going to call the Buyer to get an answer.

I have a feeling that TJMaxx's perception of an "authorized dealer" is different from that of the normal watch industry. That's just a feeling.

I'll wait for her to call me back.
