First off, best wishes for your 50th, cuz!!

As I don't own either of the watches and have never handled either, my comments are purely speculative and only my opinion.

If it were me, I would have the Limes. I love the bubble gum blue color of the dial, the Ickler case and the simplicity of the dial. If you don't speak German it is a bit meaningless until you think a moment and realize you are looking and a 1000m auto. I have a thing for the word "automatik" with a K. I would bet my left one the fit and finish would be above and beyond excellent.

The B-42 is cool and I know how you love those white dials with the skeleton hands like your Ball, but somehow it falls short for me when compared to the Tauschsend. I can't put my finger on it and it is just my opinion, but the Fortis pales next to the Limes.

Perhaps its the wter resistance though we both know neither of us is going anywhere 200m much less 1000m unless we have drown.

I think both are sleepers... they don't bowl you over until a closer look and then you realize you are in the presense of greatness.

Again, not to offend anyone, just my opinion and I am a known to be an imbecile.

cousin Pax

Happy B-day first off:)

I pick the Limes too...my reasons are

Uniqueness

Prefer the lumed markers on the diver over the #'s

And though I cant be sure from the pics, the bezel appears to be unique in design

JMHO of course:)

Limes here too. I like the fact that the whole hands have lumn as opposed to just the tips on the Fortis. That makes is much easier to read in the dark. Ditto for the lumn on the dial. Nice big hunks on the Limes. It also appears to have holes in the lugs for quick strap changes vs. the Fortis screw-in lugs.

Just to give an diff. option the watchseller.com has some Fortis spacematics NIB and on bracelets for $550 I think and that is the highest level of Fortis.  They are solid pieces designed for space travel.  You do have the SAR so the color of the Limes would be a cool addition.

I agree, the Limes has the greater "presence" with it's unique color.

and Happy Birthday :dude:

I'm in the Fortis camp. I had a chance to fondle one in the carribean. Very substantial watch. Of course, it's apples to oranges, the one I was looking at was a chrono with a 7750 in it and the price tag was around $1900. I loved it. I would have walked out of there with it, but the salesman wouldn't budge on the price. They had a really cool soft case that you could buy for an extra $300. In the case was a leather strap and changing tools to get the steel bracelet off. I offered the guy $1700 for the watch and the case. He wouldn't go for it. He countered with $2100 for the watch and case. We walked. Ahh, the one that got away!
