I've seen a lot of talk here about grails, but nobody seems to mention what they are going/saving for. So, how about saying what you are planning on getting. Or, hoping to get. :)

Is there ever truly a GRAIL watch? I thought it was the Submariner, but, nope. What do I lust after next? One of those SINN watches with the yellow tipped GMT hand - even without chrono. . .toon1.gif

Okay, okay.................a Grand Seiko GMT, but after I get that, I'll want something else.

I have had the 18k Rolex Presidential, Cartier's and all that "good" stuff.  I still have a TT Rolex GMT Master II and a TT Breiltling Windrider Chronomat (wife also has the "blizted out" diamond bezeled Rolex Justdate 18k Presidential and a TT Carier de Santos)....but I get a bigger kick out of getting a great deal on a Hammy, Zeno, Mink, Seiko or whatever) than I do out of owning a high dollar watch!

So far, I like the simplicity of the Sub, the Seiko and the Oris Fank Sinatra (without that strap though). All the ones posted are great choices. I agree though, Oscar's is a bit out there. subtlelaugh.gif

Thanks about the Seiko.  I have posted elsewhere about it (can't recall if I have here at 3T).  I refer to it personally as the "Emperor's Seiko" as it was made for his "Household".  No way to know really if the Emperor wore this model (or any watch for that matter) but the evidence that Seiko made these for the household of the Emperor is pretty strong.  GS+ quality movement, VERY understated, and rare.  The chances of my actually getting one are slim but.......

Since I already have my grail watch, The Enzo with custom bezel with bracelet would be my pick, and its already on the way.

Mine would be always the "next one". I am constantly learning new things and watches all the time, My mind wanders from one watch to the other.

My current grail lust is for a Fortis B42 Cosmonaut chronograph...don't think I can afford one though unless I sell off an existing grail or two...GULP!

Again, some cool timepieces. I think you have to have a Pilot's license to wear that Fortis. That is one hunk of a watch. Ditto for the Vogard. Gorgeous blue color.

My most prised possession above any other, is a Breitling Navitimer World.  No watch can ever compare in my eyes, all of the rest are just for fun.

UN makes some great pieces; also got to see the Sonata; another nice 'Grail' watch. Good luck in obtaining your Cartier - good choice!

My 'reachable' watch would be a Blancpain Triple Date in stainless. Another favorite!!!

I have the watches I want within my price range .Occasionally however temptation overcomes my better impulses and i will make a purchase.Last night i picked up a watch for approximately $9.00 ( including a new battery)at  Walmart. It is base metal with a ss finish.Dimensions are 45 by 45  and 11mm thick  including the faux turning bezel with dimpled indentations at the hours. The case is panerai style with a set stem at 4 o clock. ( 5 is impossible)It is 25 mm between the lugs .It has stick hands with a red second hand. Now here comes the parts i would like to change the lume is poor with only  the 12 and 6 painted  in lume along with the hands all other hour markers are red rectangles with black rectangles between interrupted by white lines for minute markers The rest of the dial is silvertone ( Ok that is not too bad ) What I really would like to change is the oval centered in the midst of the dial with a 60's vintage ford thunderbird  inside it and the word thunderbird in bold script above and the ford oval underneath the 12 also there is a large arrow sign in the background..The face itself is 35 mm across. I am sure it will grow on me though.I bought 2 bands for it 22mm for 10 bucks.Twenty four mm bands were awfully expensive and 22 mm  works and still looks nice .The band on it now is a light brown speidel leather band with a snake print called Karing snake.I had a few extra holes punched in it  so it would fit better and had  battery installed in a small pocket watch at the same time.My local jeweler says the t -Bird watch has a good strong movement in it one properly sized for It.

(Edgel.)I read all 3 parts of the article regarding the Seiko spring drive it is very impressive and a technological tour de force. (Ken C) .  The Thunderbird watch is rather large but but no bigger than my Georg Olsen .I have to get a strap i really like for it now as it came on a cuff strap in black leather.I am tempted to get a strap from West Coast Time for it but that would be twice the original cost of the watch . There is a dealer near me who i can check for take off bands in 24 mm he sells them for 5 dollars, but I am leaning towards a military look for this one. I could let the cuff strap go for shipping costs to interested parties at my discretion. I think it may be imnnapropriate for the expensive watches most people have here though. Also it is only about 7.5 inches so it would not work for the large wristed.
