Well after months of the ocean7 diatribe, and seeing them for sale on other forums for 250.00 less than they paid, I firmly stirred the pot on the ocean7 board. I asked for a honest opinion of the watch. average time, build quality, etc. Its a long thread. I just got tired of all the members kissing Mitches sphincter instead of some good criticism and input to improve the damn thing! |

Sean, I found it interesting that Mitch indicated that the production version of the LM-1 will be substantially different - sounded like more than just distingushing it from the Limited Edition (hopefully moving the lug holes for one). I do think the dialogue was better for the LM-2 and LM-3; and am looking forward to those (I did not get the LM-1). His G series are basically quick productions of existing watch cases and movements, with the O7 dial/hands added (skeletonized in the G-2), so not a lot could be done with those. really all i wanted from that post was real answers to questions that have been asked repeatedly and then side stepped. everybody had input on that watch. but when the final product came out it was lacking and no one would say anything about it.we went through this with the 3t orsa. everyone including me gave honest opinions without wondering if it was going to hurt someones feelings. when it comes to my wallet, screw feelings, there out the door and i"m in full alert you have my utmost attention mode.When people don't think I'm paying attention, thats fine because thats when I learn the most. I read people like a book from being in the Academy and airforce. I like getting in somebodies 3ft safe zone. It intimidates people, there eyes turn away. If its to the left, there nervous. to the right there lying. I learned alot by reading every thread about the lm-1. |

Actually, the LM-1 looks strikingly like Ernie Platts' PRS Dreadnought and the LM-2 (with the exception of the hands) almost identical to the Glycine Luganare! coyote2.gif Just read "Brad" and "Xtrooper" comment.............what a bunch of defensive assholes. I wasn't trying to start anything! just get some user opinions! It maybe like the Orsa case but the Orsa uses screwed lugs put in the right place. I have no fear of those ever breaking off! Every Orsa I have rocks. never a issue. There customer service need attention, but looks like there heading in a better direction. The ocean, on the other hand hasn't sold out on the 1st run. If they would have said the truth and offered a work around on fitting a bracelet, I may have bought one. But hey. what do I know. I wear an Oceanaut. |

I read the replies. If they had read the post and not inferred there ego's into it, it would have gone over better. But I did get the ones I asked not to respond, so psycology does work. They said I questioned there integrity. PLEASE! the post doesn't do that. It just brings the main jerks to the surface. |

No, I think it targeted the right words to the right (or wrong?) people. The ones that took offense never really posted any review of substance - the ones that pointed to their previous posts usually had pretty detailed reviews. Though I didn't see anyone try to rack it up against an equivalent diver in the same price range, as you had suggested. Interesting side note, a thread in the Diver Forum, which started out bad-mouthing the Orsa watch, was eventually closed by the moderator who stated he wouldnt stand for that kind of thread - at the same time taking a couple pot shots at Orsa (Berg) himself. Then a newcomer placed a post that questioned the moderator's motive/tactic of closing the original thread and not letting people respond - this thread was promptly deleted. Guess they cant take constructive criticism too well... |

Ok here's what I've done. I just executed a trade for an LM-1 with a friend of mine from WUS. Am sending him my Bathys Auto (an avid Bathys fan). I will get the LM-1 this week and will post pics and review as soon as I can (might compare side by side to the Orsa since built by same company). Will run timing tests against an atomic clock source (per the inimitable Brad Trent suggestion) and see what we get.  Steve |

Is the Ocean7 Mitch the same guy who has the Yahoo Accutrons forum? I sent one of his buddies an Accutron to service and the guy held it for 7 months without doing anything to it (thankfully I got it back in one piece). Wouldn't answer emails or anything so when I posted an inquiry on the Accutrons forum this Mitch guy gave me hassle. Needless to say I haven't posted there since. If it is the same guy he wouldn't get a dime of my money even though it is a nice looking watch. Cheers, Griff |

Ken, Aren't the NJ State Troopers still wearing Jackboots (literally)? Tells you something doesn't it? All, Remember - WUS is essentially a marketing site. Ocean7 pays Ernie - period. I went and read the thread just now and its a joke. All the "offending" posts have been removed and the answers sound like a bunch of whining 3 year olds. It's amazing, truly. Personally things like picking on spelling are just childish (I happen to have more degrees than fingers on one hand and also have a spelling deficit - thank G*d for spellcheck!). The adult thing to do is to actually answer the question not attack the questioner! The bottom line is that no one ever gets a straight answer on WUS on any topic related to Ernie's income. Holy @#$^, I just finished reading that thread, wow! Some serious panties in a bunch over there. I love how the one guy mentions in nearly every post he makes how he owns 5 Panerais. Oooooh, I am so impressed...NOT I stay out of those brand forums too, it seems everytime someone questions the particular brand they are either publicly browbeaten, deleted or banned. All I need is the overall build quality, and if the watch is adequate and reliable for keeping time. Anything around 8 to 12 secs. is fine. thats about average. I'd like a very good picture of the lug holes also. they are my main concern. I ask these questions on every watch I buy with no problem until now. Theres enough reference material out there for all the watches I buy so I can make up my own mind about the reliability of the watch. Theres nothing on the ocean yet except from people with a vested interest in the watch. Thats just not good enough. |

Thanks for that crack Pax.:D At least on the other forum honesty pays off. The lugs are a big issue. The holes are to close to the end of the horns. The only band that looked good and fit was the delaurian, and fit only because Shane made it fit. I'm sure he noticed the problem and sewed the strap hole farther in to help the watches apperance. The watch would look better with 22mm lugs. They look stretched at 24mm. |
