Oscar,

Not to be argumentative but I believe there is some requirement about the % of parts that are Swiss made in order for it to carry the "Swiss Made" designation - aren't there?

Oscar,:)

I really did read it, both before this came up and again.  My read of it is that 50% of the cost of the watches parts must be spent in Switzerland and that the movement must be Swiss and it must be assembled in Switzerland.  I know that people can not do all that and still put "Swiss Made" on the dial - I can in my home with my laser printer and some slik screening if need be - but that doesn't mean that the law is on their side.

I THINK what we are talking about is much more simple - are the laws as written to define "Swiss Made" adequate to genuinely ensure that the watch is in reality "Swiss" the way that the average person would expect it to be with that label on the dial?  If that is what we are really discussing then my answer is "No".  "Swiss Made" ought to mean more than it does, and I believe that the assumption by most is that it does mean more than it does in fact mean.coyote2.gif

Hey! stop it guys! I only posted because I'm going to drop the hammer on one and it doesn't matter where its assembled, or wether the parts come from butt wipe Idaho! I would prefer your support, and interest in what the watch does when it arrives. Sometimes you just buy a watch because you like it. hand6.gif

Thanks Oscar, It looks like a cool watch. It might even work! The price sheet has them and some with the eta 2836 at an incredible price point. Most of the cases look really familiar, like the orsa quartz I bought.

I have had 1000's of watches made in Switzerland and no matter what some one is reading, it is a translation and a view point.  50% of the cash value of the watch has to be spend in Switzerland which includes final assembly and inspections, not total assembly.  We have layers for this and have to upgrade movements or get them decorated in Switzerland in order to get them to comply sometimes, or do other creative things, just my two cents.
