Hey, guys I'm looking into a German-made watch this time. After having done some research online, I like several: NOMOS, Stowa, Muhle, and Schaumburg. Price range up to $1,800. What do you think? Any suggestions? (NOMOS seems a bit small) |

Hi, you could check out Sinn, too. For large german watches, check the "B-Uhren" (remakes of WWII Pilots' watches, 45mm and up), preferred Divers and really made in Germany are the Sinn U Series as well as the Stowa Seatime and ProDiver series. Mühle Glashütte is nice, too, but their "biggies" might be out of your price range. If you are into the Dreadnought style, you could check out the Jacques Etoile Atlantis or the Alphatime Sawfish. Damasko has a huge following, too. I've got a Nomos Tangente Date. Yes, its 'small' by today's standards, but its all glass; very little bezel - so it wears bigger than it really is. I don't think you'd be disappointed. Marc |

I have a Stowa Seatime I would never part with. The Stowa Prodiver is similar and is held in high regard by most. I can vouch for them from personal experience. |

I can speak for the Stowa and Schaumburg and say either would be a great choice and under your price range....and I think Marc/IW may have a line on some Nomos hand6.gif...but I have been wanting a Muhle for years and would like to hear from someone who owns 1 on this forum....(hint,hint) |

Muhle looks nice. Anders at Gnomon has an M VI Chronometer in silver or black for $1,680. Very tempting. Just read somewhere on WUS that someone was spreading a rumor that Lindburgh & Benson (Schaumburg) timepieces were produced in China. I, personally, have a hard time believing this, but want to be absolutely, 100%, sure that I'm shelling out close to $2,000 for a genuine German-made watch. |

not produced in China. read the same rumors. Those cases are used on a number of watches. Some parts are sourced from china, but the build is in Germany, with eta movements. Stowa is german made but uses a swiss movement. Enzo uses the shaumberg case, so does ocean, from china. doesn't mean there cheap. there machined cases. less money to have an asian company make them. I think that what really matters is the assembly and qc from the manufacturer. I know the quality of my watches and where the movements are from, but after that, Who really knows? what part isn't sourced? |

Yes you're right...These watches are truly from Germany...and Schaumburg used only Swiss Movements(Dubouis Depraz, Selitta, Soprod, ETA ...)Great Watches for a fair price hand6.gif |
