(Setting )We are deep beneath Wayne Manor in the Batcave .%! I mean 51 jewels!I've never heard of that before. Holy precision Batman!(B) Quite right Old chum ,Quite right!(R)I'll bet King TUT would love to get his hands on that watch.(B)On the contrary Robin $400 is quite a trivial sum for one such as he to steal.( R)I meant, he would love to have such a fine chronograph for such a pittance,Batman !(B) Indubitably Robin.( A)I Own one myself Sir.(B)Really, how much am I paying you Alfred?(A)I saved for such an opportunity, Sir. watch2.gif

Getting a watch with that 51 jewel movement for that price is incredible. ;)

Same in the Zodiac Calame which list for nearly $2000 and the Gevril Cloud dancer(?) which now list for $5000

So it would be a good pickup indeed.

Arrrghhhh! Why must I do this to myself??  I just bit on the Mach 1.  That's too good a price to ignore.

Thanks for the heads ups (I guess ;))

Now I guess I gotta pick out what to sell to pay for this bad boy...

Yeah...and they haven't even posted anything about it....Steinhart (or whoever they are now) would do much better advertising on a watch forum!subtlelaugh.gif

Does anyone know the name of the "much larger watch-company" that essentially forced Steinhart to change its name to Debaufre in order to avoid litigation?

On their website, Steinhart/Debaufre suggests that its name and logo were too close to that of another watch company which threatened to sue.

I have been wracking my brain, but have not been able to figure out what company is being alluded to. Does anyone know who it may have been?

P.S. I too have been bitten by the Mach 1 bug. One in black is on the way to me as well. I understand that Steinhart watches are held in high regard by others who have purchased them in the past. I hope the Mach 1 lives up to my expectations.

Good question Monster...I can't see any similarities to the old Steinhart logo to any other with the exception it has a crown over the S and we all know who uses the crown but a simple logo change would have fixed that :) maybe it may have been a family name infringement of someone known in the watch biz I have read several accounts that Steinhart and Grovana/Revue Thommen were all the same as well as Robert Watches who's watches bare distict similarities...maybe Avery has some input

The little dots on top of the Steinhart S are suggestive of the Rolex crown.  That's my guess.

My guess would be horology giant and Air Mall favorite Steinhausen.

This just isn't fair... I would love to pick up the GMT, but due to lack of funds this month (way too much going on) I can't... a once in a life time and I am without the coin....

Mine shipped too, but won't be here until Friday. That's the one drawback of being in the Pacific Northwest, I suppose...

Steinhart's customer service is outstanding. I've dealt with them once before and it was a pleasurable experience.

Damn those are some nice prices. Maybe Steinhart ought to consider becoming a 3T sponsor?

Mine doesn't arrive until Friday either. It should have been Thursday, but the 4th of July holiday is causing the delay I guess.

Actually, in the traditional sense (paid banners and/or paid sponsorships), 3T doesn't have any "sponsors".  Our "sponsors" are those who have both great products and have rendered great customer service to our members.  They are more like "Friends of 3T", and that is why they have banners here! hand6.gif

Ken,

Thanks. That is very cool. Not a good business model but still very cool. :) That might be something to consider in the future. 3T hosts a link in echange for a discount to 3T members?

You make some very valid points. :D Just because something has always been done a certain way doesn't mean that we shouldn't consider doing things differently. Maybe things can be improved? :? My point was IF Steinhart did sell more watches after the sale came to the attention of 3T members, maybe it would be in their interests to consider offering us a discount. Why wouldn't Steinhart want to do what Marc, Enzo and Berg have done? What would be wrong with being more proactive in soliciting other great 3T members? I don't see how what I am suggesting would jeopardize the independent voice of the forum. :) I understand that 3T is not a "business." However, that shouldn't discourage 3T from looking for ways to get members a better deal? I'm not attacking 3T.

Actually I wouldn't mind paying a membership fee for all the benefits and enjoyment that I receive from 3T.  :) Or a fee for listing watches to be sold on the forum. Or a fee for watches that are sold. (There is a difference between listing watches and selling them) :) That might fund a new hot tub for the moderator. :) I know not to bring a knife to a gunfight so I'll back off . . . for now. :D

I like the way that is stated over the buttons too. "3T Friends" :)

Some folks like adds that is cool. I played that for a bit a few years ago became a pain. So don't do it anymore.

Now and then I will put up a button or banner for someone just for the sake of doing it. May do it again soon if I can get motivated to work on my sites some time soon. Same look for near 2 years now.

But Oscar you got a good thing going here keep up the good work. Goes for all involved in helping to from the Admins and Mods and so forth. ;)

And a way cool membership helps.

TSOFAN...hi and welcome to 3T!

This thread is from one year ago (July2007) when Steinhart USA was changing its name to Debaufre.  I'm afraid that "sale" is long gone!
