Which do you prefer, a solid case back with a cool design, or a crystal case back so you can view the movement?

Do any watch manufacturers even make a solid case back so something can be engraved on it?

I really don't care about seeing the movement of a 2824 or Unitas. Maybe if I had a RGM or highly decorated movement, but in my price range, they ain't that exciting.

Solid caseback since for some reason it "slips" less on my wrist, which is important for some of the heavy watches I have.

I tend to agree... solid case back, preferably with an interesting design like the Orsas...hand6.gif

I guess I am at a 50/50 with it dependent of the type of watch and the size of the watch. Bigger divers I prefer a solid case back but dress and oh say pilot type watches I like the exhibition case back. ;)

Glass case back for me. I want to see what's inside. It's like watch TV! :D

For me it depends on how attractive the movement is, plus how well a display back "goes" with that particular style of watch.

I prefer solid case back for the divers watches and display caseback for the pilot and dress watches.

My first choice is always a display back.  I simply enjoy seeing the movement doing its thing.

The best example of this is the Sin 103 St Sa Ar, the back crystal is as large as the front and even has AR coating!  When you flip the watch over, your first thought is that the back has fallen off, because the crystal is so large and clear.

I enjoy both and really don't have a preference one way or the other. Sometimes seeing the movement is tops, but I don't need to see a Miyota movement.

Worth seeing:

I prefer an engraved, solid case back on any watch. I have a few display back watches. They are OK but I like the highly engraved solid backs better.
