I don't have a Tissot QUARTZ, but I do have a Seiko SKA281 Chronograph (BECAUSE MY WIFE GAVE IT TO ME).  I took it to my local watchguy and paid $15 for a battery change with "free lifetime replacement".  So, did this guy ask you to bend over while you were talking to him??? toon1.gif

BTW.....BATTERIES SUCK!

The guy's handing you a load of crap! I took my PRS 516 to a local watch maker and he replaced the battery for $10 and pressure tested the snap on back as a courtesy (it's only 50 m WR-- not like it needs special diver pressure testing equipment). What's the big deal? The movement's a run of the mill ETA G 10, perhaps the most common Swiss quartz chrono movement -- almost as ubiquitous as a 2824.
This Tissot and Tag both have the same movement:

I'm heading back tomorrow to pick up the watch. Maybe I should learn how to change the batteries myself.  About 40% of my wathches are quartz.  BTW, thanks for all of the replies.  In retrospect, I should have not given it to him unti I checked here first.

:(:(:(

While it sounds expensive, find out if he is sending it to Tissot for battery replacement and pressure check?  I'm guessing that Tissot recommends pressure testing after replacement, and perhaps your guy isn't capable of that?

Just a thought.
