I've tried on the Planet Ocean on strap and love it. The speedy is a little small for me, but if I were looking for a 'birthday' watch, I personally would go for the Moon to Mars for the novelty and cool look... Happy birthday in advance... mine's in 4 wks and am gonna have a Ball I think - I hit the 5-0 next year... :? |

I recently got a PO and it was one of the best watch buying decisions I ever made. I was back and forth about it until I finally held one and wore it. It's surprisingly hefty (211 grams with 3 links removed) and fits like a glove. Mine is the 45mm case but it 'plays' a bit smaller. I also like the co-axial movement and the fact that (it is said) that it can go 10 years before needing servicing. ![]() ![]() |

Gregger if you are going to spend that kind of coin on a Omega that believe it or not has Asian parts throughout the line like cases, bracelets etc.... terrible CS...and probably why most AD jewelers are leaving them my personal choice would be a Rolex...at least it will still be worth what you paid for it in 2yrs. when you are 50!....watch2.gif |

I vote for the P.O. for day in day out long term use. But agree with Oscar about considering other brands i.e. a Breitling SuperOcean. You should be able to pick one up for around $2100. |

Besides I think Rolex's are twice the cost of the Omega's I posted....I've also read that most old swiss co's are taking on Asian parts...that's one way to make mo money:D |

I am 200% agree with O about how WORST the CS of Omega is. My friend got his first Omega and damaged the date for some reason. He took it to the local Omega service center 3 months ago and until now the watch is still with them. They keep on telling my friend that they are still waiting for the parts coming from Switzerland:( Though I also like the 42mm Black/Black PO the bad CS of Omega stops me from buying it. oagaspar wrote: Gregger if you are going to spend that kind of coin on a Omega that believe it or not has Asian parts throughout the line like cases, bracelets etc.... terrible CS...and probably why most AD jewelers are leaving them my personal choice would be a Rolex...at least it will still be worth what you paid for it in 2yrs. when you are 50!....watch2.gif Last edited on Mon Oct 22nd, 2007 09:19 am by NANDO-FERDZ |

Just buy what you want man. I can't offer you any advise of the choices you posted as I would buy the PO as I don't like chrono's. I can add to the camp that I am not an Omega fan either but I don't want to try to talk you out of one. Get what you want. |

^^ I'm with Scuba-buy what makes you happy. I've worn my friends Planet Ocean and it was one of the most comfortable bracelet watches I've tried. Felt solid, heft, reassuring. Needless to say I didn't want to give it back but reluctantly did. It looks great on my wrist and probably would do yours as well. I never paid much attention to Omega until I wore the PO and boy I want one now. As far as service goes-I guess you have to ask yourself how patient you can be if something goes wrong? Good luck and congrats on your future acquistion whatever it is. |

As much as I love divers, the Speedie Moon watch is on my grail list. You are a lucky man, my wife would never let me spend $1K+ on a watch, no matter what <sigh> That is why I have so many other watches (if I sold them all I could get a Rolex/Omega etc.) Enjoy whichever you choose Greg! Best regards, Griff |

Gregger, You have a great wife my friend. I am an Omega fan and have two that have had no problems so far. I have been very happy with them and consider them two of my better purchases. Maybe if I had problems with them then I might feel otherwise. I have heard some customer service problems with all major brands, so should we all stop buying the major brands and only buy the smaller independent companies that are favored on the forums. I think there is a place for both in my collection, as do most others. As for my preference, I own a Speedy and consider it a great all around watch that can be used for just about any occasion. Having said that, I prefer divers and would love to get a Planet Ocean and plan to at some point. It is a great looking and feeling watch. They are not cheap, but at least you are getting a quality watch for that price. There really seems to be no bad decision to be made among your three choices. As others have said, just buy the one that speaks to you the loudest. Good luck in your choice. Let us know what you decide. :) Len |

I'll chime in with my experience on the PO - I have the 45.5mm version and it wears larger than its size I'd say, because the bracelet sticks out past the lugs quite a bit before bending. So if you like a watch with "tall" lugs (it looks tall because of the bracelet, which is excellent by the way), then the PO might be for you. |

Greger I'd go with #2. That's a really rare / Cool Dial . But the PO is the cats meow smile8.gif |
