Just wondering....found an awesome Hamilton X-wind PVD LE and was wondering if PVD shows fingerprints???? I'd hate to pay a lot of $$$$ for a PVD watch and have it look dirty all the time....TIA.

Greg,

I wouldn't say it gets fingerprints, but they do look a little murky from the oils of your hands and skin after a while, if that makes sense....a little soap and water and your back in action:D

From my vast experience with all things related to horology I have found that PVD and similar finishes only show fingerprints when either you or someone else touches them.

Depends on what kind of surface the Pvd was applied over. If the case is bead blasted before coating, it has a matte finish. Yes will pick up oils and such, just won`t show up easily. If the coater applies it over a normal steel case, then the Pvd has a bit of sheen to it and will show prints like a car finish. I too carry around a micro-fiber cloth in my jacket with me most days.

Big thumbs up here you bet. Actually got to see him in Tacoma at some little lodge that I can`t remember when I was 14. Just before he took off and went to the Uk.

Actually got to meet the Hendrix family a few years back at my daughters middle school. Her class was doing a Heritage project & parents were invited. My daughters was next to the great nephew of Jimi as I found out looking at the photos of him, very cool me thinks. As I turned around the family showed up next to me. Damn they look alike. My daughter & the nephew were buds in classes. This kid even had the afro going, a few more inches and a dead ringer. Met Jimis brother & sister there along with others. I even managed to take some pics of us together. An unexpected treat for me who considers him the best there ever was.
