I might do a full "D" day. Starting with a Debaufre.

When I was a kid growing up, my VERY first race track set included 2 cars that were Lemans edition. My favorite was the blue one.

Bill/Chris, I just came from another forum and the threads there were starting to name Chris' diver the DIVER TUXEDO but there was some resistance from some because it didn't sound Japanese like the Sumo, Samurai, etc etc. I suggested the Japanese word KAMIKAZE because this SRP043K is a pilot cum diver.....exactly what the kamikazes were in WW2----dive bombing pilots. Hopefully, they pick up the nickname.woohoo.gif

By the way Chris, I'm heading off to the AD tomorrow and if Lady Luck smiles on me, and I can nego a good price without starting a brawl in the store,  I'm taking this one home.

I'm just grappling with the skinny 20mm lugscrap.gif

Bill, this is a nice little baby at 44 x 14 x 49 and houses a 4r15, which is an elaborated and bespoke 7S26. I've seen the movement when the Seiko watchsmith obliged me and opened it up. Really nice.thumbsup.gif

Bill...thank you for the kind words! thankyou.gif

I can definitely recommend this one without reservations...it is a great "newer" diver from Seiko, and the dimensions and build quality make it an even more oustanding piece.

BTW...love your Deep Blue DNOPS with the "tubes"...a great looking combo.

Thanks Jeff & Chris for your comments!

BTW - I have also looked at the pilot version you have, Jeff.

Thanks Jeff...thankyou.gif

I have read that same reference "Tuxedo" for this one, and had the same reaction...I just don't care for that reference.

I do like your suggested "Kamikaze" due to the combination pilot/diver that IS the SRP043...I will have to lobby with you for the kamikaze reference name.  That got me thinking a bit along those lines...What do you think of the name Seiko "Ohka" named after the Japanese rocket plane "Ohka" - "cherry blossom".  A purpose built kamikaze aircraft employed by the Imperial Japanese Navy during the end of WWII.  Later versions were designed to be launched from coastal air bases and caves, and even from submarines equipped with aircraft catapults, although none were actually used this way.  Just thinking out loud...

By the way Jeff...good luck at the AD tomorrow...with the prices that I have heard you can get these for in the far east, I'm sure you will come away with the prize!!!  ...can't wait to hear how it goes!

...I agree with you on the 20mm lugs...with the healthy dimensions of the SRP043 case, 22mm lugs would have been nice.  I would not let the 20mm be a showstopper for you though Jeff...it works...

Hear you loud and clear, Chris. The lug width shouldn't be a show stopper at all.

The OHKA is ok but sounds almost phoenetically very close to "Orca", the smaller black-dialed Citizen Eco-Zilla. But I guess OHKA would be good. You made a very good reference to the WW2 planes which were supposed to be catapulted from the back (deck) of the I400, Japan's biggest and most modern attack subs in those days.

Let's see how it goes both on the nickname and the purchasesubtlelaugh.gif

We are in/near Palm Coast close to the Washington Oaks Garden.

Hey guys just a friendly reminder this thread is for the daily watch you are wearing. These side discussions might just warrant a seperate thread where you'll pull more opinions and leave this thread less cluttered.

I like this it has a 4 wall look to it with the cell wall padding, its only what sprung to mind when I saw it. I do really like it, classic smart looking with class.
