A couple of weeks ago I saw the new Vostok 1967 Amphibia over on WUS.  As soon I as I saw it I knew I needed one!  It came today in record time from Moscow, and man am I impressed.  It was way more expensive than the standard Vostok, but IMHO head and shoulders above the regular Amphibia.  Totally massive case and a well constructed solid link bracelet, to me it screams "Russian" :D

I won't have time tonight or tomorrow to size it, so I'll post some wrist shots on Monday.  Here's a stock shot from Smirs for now, but the pic does not do this chunk o' diver any justice!

I saw some of those watches last summer in Russia. They were quite impressive. And, some were big too.

It is a monster, no doubt about it!  I compared it next to my Formex and it is comparable in size.  It is a limited editiion too, only 1967 made of each model.  120 click bezel, non-hacking, handwindable, signed screw down crown, and no date.  That is the one thing that always drove me crazy about my Russians, the "quick set date" that takes forever to set.  I can't wait to get it sized :D

Cheers,
Griff

I like it - the bracelet looks like the tracks on a tank!

Where did you get it from??

I got it from Smirs.com, they are the only ones I know of that have these LE Vostoks.  Free shipping too hand6.gif  The bracelet does look like tank tracks, I didn't think of that!

I'll be sizing it tomorrow, can't wait to wear it!

Cheers,
Griff

Love it...and the fact it has no date is a plus...I get sick of setting them and stopped completely on Vostok and Poljot because of the date set problem!

That's the first Vostok in a long, LONG time that I want after seeing a tiny pic.  Can't wait for your real pics... they just may sway me enough to place my order!

I meant to get some pics today, it was the day from he-- mistake.gif
I just got a chance to size it yesterday, quick and easy for a perfect fit.  The bracelet is truly massive, nothing like any Vostok I have ever had.  The only way you know it is one is from the typical floppy crown, though it screws in quite well.
I set and wound it yesterday, running well within 10 sec/day though I am not totally sure as it doesn't hack.  The dial is such a deep blue, depending on your angle it looks black, sometimes purple, but in full sunlight an awesome navy color.  The markers are all outlined/applied as well, not the standard Vostok dial.  I hear on the WUS Russian forum that the lume actually lasts longer than 5 minutes too hand6.gif

Tomorrow, I gotta take pics tomorrow!

Cheers,
Griff

Finally!

My pics don't do the dial color justice, or how massive this watch is hand6.gif

Griff

Love it!  ThumbsUp02.gif

That may have worked it's way onto my "short" list!

How's the bezel?  Is it hard at all to grip?

Griff the case just looks massive.

I don't suppose you could be convinced to grab a caseback shot? That's a great looking Russian diver. The bracelet looks great too. You surely must be loving it!! Thumbsup3.gifThumbsup3.gifThumbsup3.gif

Thanks guys!
Man, this is one hunk of steel, and the bracelet balances it out perfectly.  When I first saw the 2 models, black dial on rubber and blue on steel, the bracelet was what grabbed me, and the blue dial's large Arabics, very Russian IMHO.  Vostok isn't known for it's high quality bracelets but I figured I would take the risk and if it wasn't up to snuff then I was going to replace it with a Watchadoo or mesh.  No worries there, all solid links, solid end links and built like the tank treads that it looks like!  Super comfortable, and it ain't no lightweight.  No wrist fatigue at all, unlike a couple of others I have that can be painful to wear too long.
The bezel is about as smooth as any I have ever had, very Seiko like in action.  I don't know if you could easily turn it with gloves, but it isn't stiff or sloppy at all.  I didn't know it had a domed crystal before I bought it, definitely a plus!
Expensive for a Vostok, yes, worth it, absolutely!

Cheers,
Griff

I was turned off of Russians for awhile because of some issues, wrong hands on a 24hr Aviator that I ordered, a bum 3133, and my V-E Rocket and Sturmanskie chrono being out for repair since last August (they came back today and were worth the wait!), but I just couldn't resist the Amphibia as I love the case style and couldn't find a mint older one on the Bay that wasn't frankenized in some way.  I am so happy that I grabbed this, I sold a 6309 to get the cash and I think I came out ahead.  Here is a borrowed back case shot from the Russian forum, classic Amphibia back with the LE serial number.

Cheers,
Griff

The only problem is now I will be waiting a month or two for my next Russian, the custom LE Vostok White Radio room, arrrrgh!
