This simple looking little gadget is a godsend!
I have been procrastinating about getting one of these for a while, Garwal got one last year and ranted and raved about it so I finally broke down and bought it.

They are made to order right here in the USA!
It will do way more than I am ever going to ask of it. I bought mine with the clamping sensor and the windows software package though so far I have been happy to just use the timer on my desk with the 9v batter in it for power. The advantage of this setup being I can do printouts to my printer from my computer and I don't need a custom printer just for the timer!

My first surprise was that after adjustment my Orange Mako is more accurate than my brand new Omega Seamaster Chronometer by a factor or two or more including positional variation!! The Mako is unwavering in it's beat error and speed with a variation in beat error from 0 to .4ms at different positions. The Seamaster by contrast varies from .5 to 1.2ms.

I am absolutely stunned and thrilled at the same time! I can't wait to get a few more of my watches on the timer and check them out!!

Arrrrgh, I need one!  Great pick up Chris hand6.gif

It's been on my tool list ever since I saw Garwal's post on WUS.  Talk about a long term money saver by timing/adjusting your own watches vs sending them to a watchmaker.

Cheers,
Griff

With the clamping sensor it's $450.00. If you want the windows software it's an additional $175.00.

Before you let the sticker shock bother you google the Witchi timing machine and the MTG-3000

suddenly $638.00 shipped is a screaming great deal!

I have noticed that even the clamping sensor has trouble with the Seikos but I have discovered that you can put the crown on the pickup for the sensor the sound from the movement transfers right through the crown and stem to the sensor and gives you a good reading...

I am going to make an adapter for the clamping sensor that will let me place the watch sideways in the clamping sensor so that the pickup for the sensor can sit against the rotor or back of the movement for really stubborn watches this will give a perfect reading every time but it will be a bit harder to adjust in the sensor...

Do you have a link or website I can go to for one of those? I may have to pick one up after I'm done 'playing in the sandbox'.

there is about a three week wait once you place your order so plan it in advance and don't spend you timing machine money ;) I almost tried to buy a Marcello from Marc! and remembered half my watch money was for the timing machine! mistake.gif
