I've been getting the russia2all newsletter and have been having trouble resisting some of the the Russian goodies they keep tempting me with. Well, lately I have felt the urge to wind watches and also have felt like a bit of a comrade so I could no longer resist the Ruskie temptation when this subdial handcranker Aviator (Volmax) came up in the newsletter.

Specs per R2A:

Volmax Aviator Sub-Second Blue

2614.02/2925467

  • Black Leather strap

  • Manual Wind

  • Poljot 2614 Movement Accurate

  • Blue face

  • Mineral crystal

  • 40mm stainless steel case

  • Sub-dial Second Hand; Mechanical Date at 12 o'clock

  • 30m | 100ft

  • Super-Luminova Markers
It seems like quite a nice watch with a beautiful blue sunburst dial and subdial at 6:00. Wears larger than the 40mm case diameter. Really great electric blue highlights at the sub second hand, sub second numerals and minute track. Nice finish on the case. I am happy to see the date even though its the Ruskie quick setface4.gif as I have been wearing a lot of dateless handcrankers lately and have actually gone for the date only to be disappointed. This seems a great watch for the bargain price paid imho.

Ordered Tuesday afternoon, received Thursday afternoon. Excellent CS as the manual was missing but a note was enclosed explaining the situation. And then there is always the R2A BONUS!!! I grabbed this bugger as my bonus. All in all a great experience and highly recommended.

Oh yeah!  Sweet Russians, big congrats Pax! hand6.gifhand6.gif
A twofer is always nice too, I really like that freebie Amphibia hand6.gif

I got started in this obsess...err hobby with Russians, and now I am back to them.  The Amphibia is great, and I have the custom white Radio Room on order through the WUS Russian forum (both no date, the "quick set" drives me nuts!)

Cheers,
Griff

A Little Known Fact about Poljot Watches:

During the cold between 1950-1989.

The Poljot means Pilot in Russian and their movements are highly revered in the former USSR because of their accuracy. Poljot  watches were worn by Russian Diplomats and other high ranking officials.

The Sturmanskie were the watches that  Commanding Military Officers wore and the  Vostok Amphibian were for the lower ranks.

Civilian watches included Chaika,Raketa and Sekonda.

Congratulations.
