Hi 3Ters

This arrived today from a fellow WIS in Sydney.

I was told of its beautiful condition, but what arrived absolutely blew me away. It also blew my watch budget for the second quarter of the year - but I hope you can see why I think it is the only one I will ever buy - it is a keeper!

Sharp 42mm case, flawless xtal, beautiful bracelet with a solid "snick" to shut, flawless bezel. Overall the nicest vintage I now own. Thanks Jon (from whom I borrow the picture and from whom I received probably the easiest deal I have done in ages). Top marks to a great guy and fellow Omega enthiusiast.

I have been looking for a 92 - 95% SM120 f300 for ages (maybe 5 years), and you guys will probably all know what it feels like to have that itch finally scratched with a masterpiece of 70s engineering.

After this - only an Omega PO45 and a MkII Stingray 60 before the end of the year.

Cheers all and I hope you enjoy the pic.

Outstanding Ian!! That looks like you just took it home for the dealer!! Beautiful indeed and a might fine vintage/grail. I am very happy you were able to find what you were looking for after such a long search. Your persistence paid off 100 fold!!

Need the drool icon, Ian that is absolutely awesome! hand6.gifhand6.gifhand6.gif

I love tuning fork movements but they have become too expensive for me.  Still on the lookout for a mint Accutron Deep Sea though :D

Congrats on that beauty, may you wear it in good health!

Cheers,
Griff

I am green with envy, Ian. I love these "hummers" and that one is as nice as they come. Only problem - too nice to wear, IMHO. hand6.gif

thankyou.gif gentlemen.

Pax - u r right, it was a grail. And it wears beautifully. Yeah - persistence isn't my forte - but when you want a good version of something over 30 years old - you have to bide your time! With watches as it is with women, huh?!

Zippo - there are some nice accutron divers on the bay at the moment - but since they are so early in the auction cycle, who knows what they will go to? I don't know the sellers and I make no reporesentation about the authenticity or condition ofthe watches, but have a look at this rare puppy: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=190214858516&_trksid=p3984.cWAT.m240.lVI

or this one which is more like the one I think you mean: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=190214647677&_trksid=p3984.cWAT.m240.lVI

Gregger, Skip and Chris - what can I say - thanks for the nice comments - if ya could see it in person, you'd also recognise that it wears like a new one, too. 42mm is just about right for today's big-watch world.  The smooth gliding red second hand is a joy.

And Edgel - I am gonna surprise you. The bracelet has already been sized by my local AD and I willl wear it as a "special contract signing" watch on high days and holidays. I just can't get over the accuracy, the fit and finish, the detail. It wears slightly lighter than, for example, my Panerai - but then again, what wouldn't? I did spend more than your average buck on this one, but it has provenance and is probably the best I will see in my lifetime. In the watchbox, for sure, but definitely a wearer and a keeper!

Thanks again guys - this is (IMHO) what watch collecting is all about - and it is my pleasure to share the passion with you knowledgeable gents.

More gratuitous shots:

And one with the similar but not identical Titus Tuning fork:

(Both shots used with the kind permission of the seller, Jon)

Cheers again!

Thanks O!

It is strange how lucky we are to have the privilege to own and wear these old (and of course, the new!) timepieces. I don't want to go on and on, because I will sound like a complete tosser...  but I am very happy with it and very thrilled that you guys like it.

Yep - when you get one that you have lusted after for a long time, and it exceeds your expectations, the thrill is second to none boy10.gif.

Thanks a lot  for your kind comments. You know that I love my watches - but this one is just a bit special.

Cheers!
