This arrived last week and finally got around to shoot some pics of it. The Deep Blue Master Timer. Deep Blue is a new company that looks like they put together watches using contract cases. Cases similar to NauticFish, Enzo and O7. The prices on their web site are extremely reasonable and after emailing with questions they sent me info for a further discount. I couldn't pass it up! Several of the models were sold out already, (more incoming), so I decided on the Master Timer. BTW customer service is excellent in response to questions and shipping. When I opened the package I found a Black plastic hard-shell case similar to Pelican. Inside, protected in foam was the watch on the SS bracelet, 2 extra silicon dive straps (nice) and 2 nylon straps (cheap), along with an instruction booklet, warranty card and screwdriver. I unwrapped the watch and was pleasantly surprised with the quality. This model is a quartz powered chrono. The case is similar to Enzo and O7 but it is not the same case, it is bigger and some of the proportions are different. 45mm diameter excluding the fat crown. The bracelet appears to be the exact same bracelet (except for the clasp), as used by Enzo and some O7 models, very beefy and solid. The dial IMO is quite nice for this price range. Real carbon fiber, nice trim rings around the chrono dials, crisp printing and nice highly legible orange hands. The lume is a beautiful bright blue, slightly above average in brightness. The beefy crown threads down smoothly and the bezel has nice firm clicks. The case back has an engraved wave pattern with a diver figure. The crystal is flat sapphire. Like I said I was pleasantly surprised with the fit and finish of this watch in this price range. Fantastic! I'm glad to see some quality shots of this peice! That thing's a BEAST!  My orange dialed PVD version of the same watch will be here Thursday. I'll post my impressions then... |

Thanks guys. :D captobvious, it will be interesting to see your orange dialed/PVD version. Ken, yeah I am usually an automatic kind of guy but if a cool looking quartz watch comes along, and is priced right, I'll go for it.  |

Looks good. I'm just wondering... aren't these the replacements for Nauticfish? I see they are being handled by the same vendor and NF offerings are gone. Regardless that's one heck of a big impressive looking watch. |

Hey Pax, Pana**** who used to be a US dealer for NauticFish now carries the Deep Blue line of watches. From what I've heard pana**** no longer is a NauticFish dealer. It looks like the Deep Blue Master Explorer model uses the same case as the NauticFish 1000. The Master timer model that I have uses a case that is similar to Enzo. I thought it was the same case until I took a closer look and measured it. This case is bigger and the proportions are slightly different. The bracelet is the same as the Enzo except for the clasp. Bloom, Yep, still liking it. I'm planning a trip up the to Thousand Island region in Upstate NY, (on the boarder with Canada) with my wife in a couple of weeks. The Master Timer will be one of the watches going along for some water fun. |

Well the orange dial PVD Master Timer showed up and went right back into the box. Looks like a fantastic watch but mine had a large defect in the PVD coating on the bezel. Hopefully a new, unblemished one can be sent post-haste! Waiting to hear back from Panatime, but UPS didn't show up until almost 7:00pm West Coast time so it'll be tomorrow morning before I hear anything. ...is there anything more disappointing than anticipating a new watch and having it show up defective? :( |

I have received 2 Deep Blues this week. One is the Master Timer with the black face on the rubber strap and the other is the Master Diver with the black face on the black rubber strap with a helium release valve. The Master Diver has 1000M water resistance and is a bit heavier than the Master Timer. It is also and automatic and is incredibly accurate over the past few days only gaining about 7 seconds each day right out of the box. In my humble opinion - and I don't have the chance to post much, that these are my 2 favorite watches. Its nice to see consistent quality from two different watches. From the chrono hands matching up correctly on the Master Timer to the bezels on each matching up perfectly at the 12:00 position. I have more expensive watches that I have had to return for bezel misalignment issues. I recently went through 2 Victorinox Dive Master 500M watches and returned them both because the bezels did not lign up and I felt the quality was not there. The Deep Blues blow away anything I have received and the customer service is exceptional. They actually email you pictures of your watch before they put it through its paces and also when it is being packaged up before they send it to you - nice touch. They seem to hit a sweet spot where quality, price, heft, wrist comfort, water resistance, appearance and service collide. Just my thoughts. |

Thank you for your nice welcome. It is nice to know my opinions are consistent with other collectors who I feel have a great deal of knowledge. Sometimes when you receive a new watch it is a strong initial love affair with it that gradually diminishes after a couple of days. This one has not. Take care and be well.... |

hey, just saw they got new models. this one looks similar to the Zinex with diff bezel insert. i much prefer the zinex dial, but honestly i dun think the deepblue cb dial is that bad...maybe just a bad picture? wat u guys reckon? its only 300$ cool10.gif |

That new Deep Blue model does nothing for me. As a matter of fact I want to run in the other direction from that one. Too many disliked design details on that one. I don't like the shiney bits all over it, the chrome name, no bezel lume blip at 12:00, polished bracelet. IMO it just looks like a Want-to be department store watch. But then like you said, maybe it's just a bad photo. face4.gif |
