After reading a most impressive review on this watch (see my previous post on the subject) my order was a mere formality with Time factors.  Eddie once again excelled in producing a stunning timepiece for little money.  I am already the proud owner of an Italian PRS-20; a beautifully made PAM homage.

The PRS-5 features the Asian ST-19 movement. The Seagull factory has been manufacturing movements since 1955. The ST-19 is a 19 jewel column-wheel chronograph, allegedly identical to the Venus 175 movement and made on the same machinery, which the Chinese acquired when the Venus 175 went out of production. Others claim that the Seagull was simply reverse-engineered from the Venus and the argument continues over which story is correct: either way, the fact remains that the design retains all durability of the original Venus.

The PRS-5 has a 31mm visible dial with Super Luminova "dot" hour markers and also a luminous 6 & 12. The crystal is a hi-dome acrylic crystal, 3.4mm high. The semi-recessed signed crown measures 4.0mm high by 7mm       diameter. The hands are painted white with Super Luminova filling. The watch is water resistant to 50 metres, is fitted with a screw back and has 20mm drilled lugs. It comes on an aviator styled leather strap, or a Nato strap of choice.

The watch came in a very handy 2-watch container, and included a highq quality springbar and bracelet link tool as a bonus.  I opted for the transparent back to show off the most impressive movement.

This watch is incredibly accurate right out of the box: +1 sec. per 24 hours over 3 days! Only my Speedmaster equals that!

I borrowed the movement pic from the Timefactors website.
