A few of my friends and I went to Manayunk (near Philadelphia PA) today to visit Martin Pulli Jewelers and I walked out with an Alpina Avalanche Extreme Automatic. 48mm case on a rubber strap. AL Caliber 525 (base ETA 2824-2) nicely decorated movement.

The owner (Martin Pulli) was very knowledgeable and friendly. I will definitely go back again.

Welcome to 3T and a great pickup...I own the Regulator version and it is one of my go to watches.....IMO I think Alpina is a company that deserves more recognition.

Congrats party.gif

DOH!! toon1.gif Just read your intro and asked some silliness considering the info in this post.mistake.gif

Congratulations on the Alpina and to use the old cliche... Welcome to the club.;) I'll echo what the other Alpina owners have stated in that Alpina makes a kick butt watch which is under appreciated imho. You have excellent taste!yourock.gif

Enjoy your new Alpina!

Their history dates back to 1883...   Alpina Ebauche Factory in Geneva, owned by Duret & Colonnaz, played an important role in the construction of the first Alpina calibres.

See link below for full history.

Nope, fixed chapter ring or bezel, not really a diving watch. I think their claim to fame is water resistant watches for skiers.
