Since I think I may be the first to jump on the Magrette bandwagon thought I would go a little overboard on the review and pics.

First of all I ordered the watch on the 15th, Dion shipped it on the 16th from NZ and it arrived today.....that's incredible!!!

Now on to the watch...I did not buy the upgraded packaging because all I do is put in in a plastic box in the attic but the packaging it came in was still nice, a cool wooden box with a sliding top and the watch and a second strap in a really nice canvas watch roll.

The fit and finish is awesome, beautiful polished case, the lugs kind of wrap around my girlish 6.75 inch wrist, the screw down crown works perfectly, to the point it was so smooth I wasn't even sure I was loosening it.

The case back on the first 100 watches has a piece of native kauri wood with a paua shell inlay for the logo under glass, with the serial number engraved on it.....a really NICE TOUCH, that makes it unique.

The size of the case is 44mm with 24mm lugs with sapphire crystal.

This model comes with the Miyota movement which is perfectly fine with me, based on the other Miyotas I have from Keith and Ralf they keep as good time as the ETA's.

The thick black leather strap with red backing that came on the watch is great, very soft and comfortable.  The second strap is light brown, kind of tan leather, may try that on the watch later.

The only possible disappointing aspect of the watch is the lume, the hands are great but the dial markers don't seem to have any lume at all....for me not a big deal, the lume really does not make that big a difference to me one way or the other.

In summary, this is a tremendous watch for the money, IMHO worth way more than the $315 that Dion charges for it...and the day/date version is even less.

Here are a "few" pics for your viewing pleasure....

Mine arrived this week.  Love it.  And you're right, a great value for the money.  BTW, your pics/review were one of the reasons I bought it.  Thanks!

I have looked at purchasing this watch several times.  For some reason I find any watch with 30m WR as a real turn-off.  Apart from that their is a lot to like about this watch.

I ordered mine but with the tan strap. I hope to have it next day or two. I really think they are making a great looking watch at a really good price point.

Well after much anticipation I received my Magrette with the tan band, did not realize it would come with the black on as well which was nice however, I opened the box, took the watch out to set the time and.....second hand was laying at the bottom of the dial . Waiting on Dion to respond today on how to remedy. What would most of you do or consider doing mail it back? By the way mad it happened not at Dion.

6keith - Well first, welcome to 3T...you will like it here very much!!!...feel free to post often.

Well, that is a real bummer regarding the seconds hand.crap.gif

Regarding what to do...yes, if I were you I would mail the watch back to Dion and give him the opportunity to make it all right for you.  IMO, sometimes things like this happen (in varying degrees perhaps), but it is how the vendor remedies the situation which to me is the most important thing.

I hope that in the end, you will get a watch that meets all your expectations (even though it is a big pain to have something like this happen especially when you are giddy with anticipation of receiving a new watch that meets all your expectations).

Be sure to post up some pics in the new arrivals section when this all gets worked out!!!

Dion immediately responded and offered up the following: I chose #2

Oh no. I am sorry about this.

Options:

1. You can send it back and I will fix and reimburse any shipping costs.

2. You can get it fixed by a local watch repair person (it is a simple job to fix) and I will reimburse and send an extra leather strap for your inconvenience.

3. You can send back and I will give you a full refund plus shipping costs for sending it back.

Again, I am sorry.

Cheers,

Dion

I have a very good watch repair guy so I chose to have it fixed here vrs mailing back and forth to NZ again. All will be fine, the watch is really nice just one hand short. :)

It is not great when that happens but it will happen to every WIS at some point in their collection. Its a lovely watch and I am sure it will provide many great years of service for you.

Well here it is better than expected. Great watch, very comfortable for a larger watch which some are not. Even another band being sent to me for the ordeal which was not something Dion had to do, great service.
