So I bought an Invicta off the bay the other day, under 70 (including shipping) and I think I like it, I swapped the bracelet lickity split for a Nato and man, for the price, its gonna be a new beater. I have another Invicta, Straight knock around, kick the dog, change the tires on a motorcycle, jump in the pool, dont worry about it watch. (the 5017 which is a quartz sub knock off, cant beat it for 30 bucks) But this new Ocean ghost is (IMO) a great looking automatic watch.
and FYI, my taste runs from my 2 Pans, to a $10.00 diesel watch.
Thoughts? comments? opinions?

I think it looks great! it is different enough from their other PD and a fairly sizable model with great wrist presence. I picked on up of Ewatches 2 weeks ago when it was on speical for $65. Congrats!

I think it looks great.  The more I look into Invicta the more I like the design AND you can't beat the costpoint.  Thank you for posting the pictures.

I do have a Corduba, or Corduva also. Whichever was the original name (the more rare one with the velcro strap) but its such a monstrosity that I hardly wear it. Its more of a novelty, and the fact that I only keep it because I feel like flavor flav (clock around the neck) and I have bought and flipped probably 10 of them over the last few years. (enabled a couple higher end purchases, I seem to have luck flippin the victas)But have never Kept or really wanted to keep any but that sundial diver and the 5017, which i truly LOVE, if nothing else than for its seeming invicibility (15 foot dives, countless lawns, work. real and desk jockying.)
But this one has already garnered some comments, sadly, more than some I own that are worth Soo much more. but hey, we cant ALL be WIS, who would we annoy with our constant chatter of watches? But so far the ghost hasnt lost anytime, the bezel clicks soundly and locks where its supposed to. ( A MAJOR PET PEEVE, i would rather dump a watch for a misaligned bezel, than poor lume) it may not be as heavy as I would like, but like you said Jeep, the price point, unbeatable. (imo)  what watches did you order again?
Drop, anytime my friend.
Here is a few pics of the manhole cover on my wrist. this one IS solid. with decent lume.

Congrats Scotti on your new "beater" hand6.gif

At the risk of being banished forever subtlelaugh.gif; I have to agree with you guys.

I have a few 'Victas including a PD I just got for $60. The fit and finish are pretty good, the lume is better than expected (lasts all night) and with a NH25A movement it keeps pretty good time...

I also have a large Corduba 3965 (Miyota powered)

I gotta few others but these two are favs among them. I usually tell others that Invictas are good for under $500 (maybe less subtlelaugh.gif)

Bill

I like the transformation of your Invicta into the Nato. Looks ok.

On the Invicta, I used to have one and actually liked it heaps until a buddy of mine twisted my arm to buy it....and off it went. I think they will last for some time even if used as beaters.;)

I don't know any other company that produce that much new models every year. When a lot of their designs are copies of well known brands, I find they have great pieces as well. This one here is a good example, it's a joke to see what you can get for so little money compared to other brands like Sonbol ;)

I think this is a beautiful watch, I realy like the bezel and dial. Wow. Not sure about the cheeze crown but this is purely personal taste and I'm sure it will appeal to others. Great buy IMHO! Thumbsup3.gif

Those are awesome looking watches. I know Invicta gets bashed. But It seems like the bashing mostly comes from watching the way they get pushed on TV, as much as I have previously bashed them. I dont think I have seen anyone knock them for how they run, how well they hold up, how solidly they are built. we talk smack mostly about how they price certain ones, claims they make and the like. and we bash them because people who DONT know watches, like them. And they just dont like them, they LOVE them. and think they are the cats meow. We who know watches tend to get annoyed because those people only watch TV and think that Victas are the best thing since the ball point pen cause they havent seen anything else. I had a " discussion' the other day that got me pretty heated because I met another "watch guy" who had over 45 watches in his collection. I thought respectable. then he proceeded to tell me that 38 were Invictas, and because of that , he "knew watches" crap.gif his best piece in his collection? a sub aqua noma reserve. again, decent. But he thought because of the val 7750 movement, that it was a better watch than my Pan Lum GmT. ............................................................because the dude on tv said it was so. .......................................Yes. seriously.
But IMO, that is why we are not big fans of the brand, not for the watch, but who represents it from the manufacturer, to most of the wearers.
but thats just me.
I do know that I can spend a hundo and get a awesome looking watch shipped from china that will run well, but I wont even let a drop of sweat hit it, or I can spend 65, get a decent looking watch that will perform well, AND have the added benefit of ACTUALLY being able to dive with it with no worries.  I have a few, (what I would consider)Mid to higher mid range dive watches that I will NOT take on a dive, for fear of banging or hurting them. (other than my marathons) , But personally dove to depths of 15 feet in the keys with my plain old basic victa. under $30 and performed admirably.
