So the Blue Dial, Brushed Case Halios Bluering arrived today!!!

Jason at Halios did a fantastic job on these...this is a true keeper and I'm really liking this one alot!!!thumbsup.gif

Some initial thoughts and impressions:

Fantastic build and one of the most difficult to photograph!!!

This is the brushed case...for those that must have case finish consistency from case to bezel to screw down crown, please note that all Bluerings have a bead blasted bezel and crown.  I struggled with my choice of case finish, initially reserving a blasted case, but finally changing to the brushed case after seeing photos of the black dialed version.  I have to say, I'm very happy with the brushed case/brushed bracelet look (excellent finishing on both)...I was somewhat concerned about the difference in finishes looking "off", but on the wrist it all works out very well.

I have quite a few black dialed pieces in the collection, so I made up my mind early on to go with the blue dial (Blue & Silver dial versions are powered by the ETA 2824, and Black dial versions are powered by the Seiko 6r15...both great movements...I have both and both are great, reliable movements...ETA beats a little faster at 28,800bph...versus 21,600bph for the 6r15).  The blue dial changes personality with lighting from either a cool mellow blue in dim, indirect lighting to a punchy, blue in bright direct sunlight.  I like!!!thumbsup.gif

Bracelet is very well built, very hefty, and very comfortable largely due to the nicely curved lug design of the Bluering.  I did end up throwing the Blueing on a Blue Strip Zulu right away, but it has one of those case designs that should look great on a number of different kinds of straps.

Domed crystal makes this one very hard to photograph...I did my best with the short amount of time I had...(crystal is not double domed, so their is a fair amount of distortion as you view at larger angles from normal to the crystal, but no visibility issues in use).

Love the overall design here...from the case, to dial, to bezel, to hands design...this one has a unique look IMO...does not look like anything else that I have...(clean and highly legible design that I like a whole lot!!).

Bezel is unidirectional, as you would expect, 120 clicks,...bezel is quite stiff, however, (as it takes a high amount of effort to move), but very solid with no slop.  I'm hoping the bezel loosens with use, but I have no reason to believe it will as most of my watches seem to remain very consistent with bezel action.

Lume is supremely excellent...has got to be very close to on par with my Seiko and Benarus Moray pieces, which is saying alot, the lume is really spectacular here.  I will have to do a charge-up photo comparison with the Seiko Monster and some other great lumed model when I get the time.

...My intial impressions are very positive...really like this Bluering!!!  Now some pics for you all...

Mine arrived in a bright yellow pelican case...cool !!!

The reveal...comes with the case finish matched ss bracelet and nice rubber strap...

Looks great on the Zulu too...

Very nice, ChrisThumbsUp02.gif. Big Congrats.

I'll research about it and find out some more. I think the skunky zulu in black and blue fits very well and I wouldn't blame you if you kept in on over the bracelet as a deafult.

Enjoy it in good healthThumbsup3.gif

Omegaman, Jeff, Nick, Bill, and Nate....thank for the kind words and congrats guys!thankyou.gif

The Bluering is a very cool and well built piece, and the blue dial really changes with lighting conditions...today is a very overcast day here and the dial takes on a more mellow Slate Blue color which looks great as well.

And thanks for the comments on the Zulu guys...this is a very versitile piece on the straps...I think it would also look good on an Orange Stripe (black-orange skunk) zulu which would play off the seconds hand.  I've got it on a Grey Nato with low light hardware today...would look really great if I had a grey nato with matte hardware though.

froschd, Brice, watchdaddy, Tony...thanks for the continued kind words and congrats...the Bluering is a sweet piece!!!

Brice - The brushed does look great against the blue dial, but I don't think you can loose as the blasted looks great against the blue as well...I, like you, tend to prefer a brushed finish for look and maintenance reasons though.

watchdaddy - agree, the blue dial really does show some sweet changes in hue with lighting...very cool.  I normally go to either gnomonwatches.com (Anders has spectacular customer service!!!) ... westcoasttime.com is also spectacular..., but they all vary in what they have in stock with particular lug sizes...I found this Blue stripe Zulu (and also a Grey strip Zulu) in the 22mm lug size that I plan to also wear on the Bluering from The Military Watch Resource (broadarrow.net) - Also had a great customer experience there with super fast shipping!!!ThumbsUp02.gif
