After 4 weeks of patiently cleaning the movement and waiting for the Elgin 532 No.5 Balance Stem to arrive. I finally took the watch home today. It is my 1942 Elgin DeLuxe 555 17 Jewels 4 Adjustments Elgin USA hand wound. The previous Elgin which was shown from an earlier post, dates from 1946. What makes this special? The dial is in original condition with no patina. However, this Elgin that I am posting tonight has a round movement. I couldn't get close enough to photograph the name on the dial. It doesn't matter is the beauty of this timepiece, that sets it apart from the others. Cheers, Simon Attachment: Simons 1942 Elgin DeLuxe .jpg.jpg (Downloaded 120 times)

Simon, Your watch is beautiful. I like you as a young fella had appreciation for old things. Now I'm just old. Keep it up your interest in the older time pieces and some day you can pass the torch. Rod in Va.

Thanks Jeff, what you're referring to is the Patek Philippe ref. 2442. I think that is the perfect watch which really goes well with a monkey suit, Cohiba Seleccion Reserva and Louis XIII Black Pearl Limited Ed. de Remy Martin. Cheers, Simon

Thanks dragnattack. After using a little dab of Brasso metal polish on the whole watch. I'm can't believe how bright the watch looks. Note: Brasso only works on either stainless steel solid gold or gold filled watches. Cheers, Simon

Thanks Ken for reminding me that Brasso also works on brass. Thanks Mark, for the kind comments. However, some of the watches that you have aren't bad at all. I just couldn't find the time to stay logged into 3-T, during work hours to comment on all of them. Of all the vintage timepieces I've owned, this is the nicest. This is my current daily wearer for the time being. Cheers, Simon
