party.gif another recent arrival... that's the second this week, after the Magellan... I finally sized the Ocean1 last night and wore it this morning for church. You know the watch well, a few of you own it in fact... ETA 2824-2, 42mm W/O crown, 13mm thick, WR300m, plexiglass domed crystal for the vintage model, 22mm lugs with an awesome SS bracelet w/ screw links.. the easiest bracelet to size I've had with the Bernhardt!ThumbsUp02.gif

It is my 3rd Ocean diver from Steinhart and this one just like the others is well built, with a finish that rivals much more expensive watches IMHO. The case is superbe! The watch oozes quality for a price of ~$400. The crown operates smoothly and you can feel the resistance while winding the 2824. The painted hour markers and domed plexiglass really add to the vintage look vs. the flat Shaphire and applied markers of the regular Ocean One. I also like the absence of the date magnifier on this one vs the regular Ocean 1. Not only it is vintage but I just hate those date "bubbles"subtlelaugh.gif  Lastly, the Vintage has the C3 superluminova green lume instead of the C1. All these differences are exactly what made me go for the Vintage Red... and of course the red on the dial!ThumbsUp02.gif I hesitated a few months (and they were out of stock a while) as I also really liked the regular black vintage w/o date and I might just get it too in the future!mistake.gif but in the end the red got me!

The watch wears very comfortably as 42-44mm is the sweet spot for me and this bracelet is super nice plus easy to adjust to perfection in size with easily removable links and micro-adjustments. The links screws are one sided, no worries about losing the little pieces or using two screw divers and finding a third hand!subtlelaugh.gif

All in all, I am very pleased, there is really nothing bad to say about this one from its price to its features and wrist presence! Steinhart offers big bang for the buck! My next one is the Marine Chrono II Roman numerals when it is back in stock! You can't go wrong with Steinhart, great watches, great quality, awesome CS and a fair price! Forgot to mention I found a free strap in the boxbravo.gif

Thanks for reading,

Brice

here are a few pics I just snapped outside my house with my P&S. Cheers

Awesome Brice!thumbsup.gif

Congrats on the new arrival...love the combination of elements on the Ocean One Vintage Red...super classic design through and through...and like you, I love the non-magnified date on the Vintage Red.

Cannot go wrong with this one...a tremendous value in watchdom!

Enjoy amigo!!! ...I am simply going to have to add one of these at some point down the road.

Congrats Brice!  I really like this rendition of a Sub.
I am drawn to these like a moth to a flame......whichone.gif
Actually, I am very keen on shooting a different vintage sub homage down first:  one without the crown protectors, and gilt hands / wording.  I know there are a few homages out there....

Thank you all. I'm very pleased with this one and may have to add his No Date Vintage little brother to the collection in the future:)

Graham. Which one are you hunting down with no crown guards and no date?

My next one will probably be the 2000m Kemmner Octopus

The Vintage Red is a sweet one Brice...

Now, about this 2K Kemmner Octopus that you are talking about...Your reference had me checking it out, and I had not realized that the 2K case was originally designed by Roland Kemmner and then sold to others including Deep Blue and Wilson Watchworks....thanks for the reference Brice...always something to learn!

Yes but the Kemmner Octopus has a case only 15mm thick instead of the 18mm on the Wilson and DB! Much beter for me and the dial rocks! Getting mine with all white hands!

Very nice grab, Brice. Yes, hard to beat Steinhart's great value and superb quality. All the elements are really there although I'm partial to the cyclops with my bad eyes. Mark, in the above post, said it very wellsubtlelaugh.gif.

Really a great Sub on your wrist and it doesn't look small at all. Enjoy it in good health, amigoThumbsUp02.gif.

Tried a few different straps, the Olive Nato  Gunter gave me(sorry no pic, was too late and did not work for me for the week, will be a week-end strap), the Bali Hai Leather and finally the one that is on today.. Maratac Rubber on Deploying clasp… the clear winner IMHO

Brice, I think I prefer the original bracelet. ThumbsUp02.gifNothing beats that on the Ocean 1. the Maratac strap just has too much space between lug roll end of the strap and case, IMHO.
