Yesterday I was at the mall and stumbled upon this, the Rolex Milgauss. Because I knew this line was small at 40mm, I never paid any attention to it all these months --- until my AD buddy told me a story about the model, about how simple the design was and about all the modern features and technology that was inside the case. I guess I fell for it and after 2 cups of coffee, took it home.

These are Q&Ds. Longer review to follow soon.

These shots taken yesterday at the AD. Sorry for the yellowish tint....yellow lights at the AD's store. Shots taken above the glass counter at the store. I was wearing my Laco 55mm Flieger at the time and it is being shown here just as a reference to relative watch sizes.

Here's a closer shot. This photo was taken today at home.

Hope you like it.

Congrats amigo! I may have a little preference to the green ring model...Maybe because that's the one I saw most. But looking twice at this one, I must say that it look sobber in a fine way and still have many cool details like the engraved chapter ring as the orange/black contrast.
I love the simple case design of those models: It's a classic and will never get old or out of fashion.
Seeing the pic in the daily show, I must say that it's snugg perfect on you, even with 40mm size.
It nearly look like a 45mm because your wrist isn't too big for itexcellent.gif
Please take some more pics: Maybe a flash will take up the contrast between the black dial and the orange markers/second hand...
Don't forget some more technical data amigo: This is a special watch!
Enjoy this superbe piece!

Big congrats Jeff. One of my favorite Rolex models. I can test the magnetic resistance for you shortly... We are installing a 3T (TESLA) MRI at the hospital...

Big congrats, Jeff!  I love that rendition.  I actually owned the "greenie" but didn't like the green tint as much and flipped it.  That classic lightning bolt seconds hand is so cool!

Jeff...Super Congrats Amigo!!!party.gif

Count me in the camp that definitely likes this one!!!thumbsup.gifwowzer.gifbravo.gif

Wonderfully classic!!!...I think that I've seen some side shots of this one (unfortunately never had the pleasure of trying one on) that indicate this one has some very nice thickness to it...all the better to keep out those evil magnetic fields!!!

...but please don't take it anywhere near Mark's MRI machine...1,000 Gauss is like 0.1 Tesla, and I'm pretty sure current MRI machines run in the range of 0.5 to 5.0 Tesla...so his 3.0 Tesla MRI machine is definitely bad magnetic mojo for your beautiful Milgauss!!!

Enjoy this special piece Jeff!!!  Another very sweet one!!!

Great watch. Like the 40mm size and the lightning bolt second hand. Hang on to it.

William, Mark, Johnny, Graham, John, Oscar, Tony, Janner, Gregger, Nordstrom, Chris and Mike....thanks for the kind words on the Milgauss.

Will, yes, I'll send it to you to test on the 65 megawatt fishing reel of yourssubtlelaugh.gif and I promise to send better pictures with natural light. It sort of sits tall on the wrist and is heavy --- maybe because of the extra lead plate it has to fight the magnetic fields.

Mark, I had an MRI once leading to an operation on my slipped disc (L4/L5) in 1992 and at that time, even my wife who was outside the MRI room had to take off her watch. All I brought was a tape of the Beatlessubtlelaugh.gif to listen too while all the fireworks around me in that tube.

Graham, I was about to shoot down the green tint version but somehow couldn't deal with the color. Too bad you flipped it. It's really a classic design, amigo.

Oscar, yes, this is a solid classic. In a decade when I'm in my '60s and might not be able to deal with my big watches anymore, it will be nice to have this small one available when I visit the grandkidssubtlelaugh.gif.

Chris, thanks for the warning on the Tesla thing. I assure you I'll never get to even 10 miles of that machinery....and if ever I do, I'll be wearing my Sonbol Papyrumbamby.gif.

Mike, you have my word....I'll hang on to this for keeps.

Thanks again to all. Pix and review to follow. Promise.

Jazz up a classic with that really amazing second hand. It doesn't look small to me but to me a 46mm is a clock. Nice addition to your amazing collection.

Thanks Trent, Bill, Ncvol17, Aujang and Murphthankyou.gif. I'm glad you liked it despite the very simple 1950s design heritage of the Milgauss. I guess the lightning bolt and the very simplicity of the dial did it for me.thumbsup.gif

Wear that bad boy in good health. The simplicity of the dial is a HUGE plus IMO and that orange lightning bolt seconds hand is just killa! thumbsup.gif

Just wished the Millie looked good on my wrist mistake.gif
