Saw Tony's post regarding the impending release of this retro styled diver from Peter Helson and was intrigued. A few days later it's on my wrist and at first blush I am most impressed.

I've got no good light and rain here so I'm just going to be brief and let this one sink in for a day or two and give some additional thoughts. This is my first Helson and thus far I am well satisfied.

Looks great on the wrist, congrats!

Interesting to see you got no. 87, given when you ordered.  I wonder if that reflects how many have already sold or if your number is just the random result of the mailroom employee that ships them out.

I didn't hook on that one yet...But I must say that the orange tone of the dial has a vintage look fitting to the whole watch: Nice detail!
Enjoy that new one!

This is a looker, Mark, and the most striking feature of the Tortuga is that very attractive case. Looking forward to a bezel change and more thoughts from you on this striking diver. Enjoy it in good health for a long time. Thumbsup3.gif

Congrats on this great looking new piece from Helson, Mark!

The orange dial is my favorite looking combo in the Tortuga lineup.thumbsup.gif...and I'm loving the dimensions and vintage design of these.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this one as you have a chance to get to know the Tortuga a little better.

Enjoy!

Very cool retro design. That is one of the nicest shades of orange I have seen on a dive watch, it looks almost like tangerine.

Is that a raised stainless ring outside around the crystal? I like the the case back on this pretty cool!!

Congrats..

Thanks for the encouraging comments, 3T buds!

@O--haven't had a moment to look at the whole package... looks like I have a free weekend so I'm hoping to play around with it a bit.

@joecb--it looks as though this raised flange wil be where the bezel removal tool will connect

i really like the alternate bezel over the black one...I agree with Oscar, the orange markers against the SS is cool!! The bezel machining gives it a real industrial look..

Mark, the black bezel makes the Tortuga look like the diver that it is. But it's a common look and looks different only because of the case's shape viz most divers.

However, on the alternate SS bezel, the watch looks very different. It still shouts that its a diver but the exaggeration of the raised glass combining with the drooping bezel's slope is unique. The scalloped bezel ring is also rare. Yes, looks industrial and looks very cool.

It's sure to turn some heads. I like the alternate bezel more than the black traditional bezel.

Still a very good-looking diver.

I like the alternative bezel Mark, which I agree is cool with the black and orange markers and gives it a very different look with the scalloped bezel too.

But (and it looks like I may be in the minority) I like the standard black bezel a bit more on this one.  I prefer how the black bezel looks with the orange dial, and I also prefer the bezel edge design just a bit more...all IMO of course.thumbsup.gif

Very cool that you have the options of switching things up so easily on this one! cool.gif

I really like the look of the alternative bezel although I think that when mine comes i'll wear it more with the traditional one, OTOH, how wonderful it is to see that you have the choice.. I think this aggregate value makes this an even nicer purchase!! Kudos to HelsonThumbsUp02.gif
