I'm starting to really like vintage pieces, about a year or so ago I started to look for a bullhead chrono, I wanted 1 that has'nt been overhauled , so I've been in contact w/ a man in the Philippines, finally struck a deal, it's all original w/scratches & all, the bracelet is new old stock, but dial, hands, crystal is all original. The patina on the dial & hands is way cool IMO...![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In ALL it's glory ![]() |

William...Very sweet Seiko arrival!!! I have 'almost' pulled the trigger on a 6138 Bullhead Chrono a half or dozen or so times!!! This is a really great looking 'original' example, and the NOS bracelet is a nice touch. Would love to see a wrist shot...please do tell me (since I've read a bit of different information on the 6138 regarding the true case size)...this one is quite thick I've heard, but I've seen case dimensions of 40mm, 42mm, and 44mm excluding crown...would love to know what the case diameter really is!!! Congrats on this very cool vintage piece!!! |

Congrats, that's a great looking watch and I love to see unique vintage shapes. The fact you found it in original condition is even more impressive (I briefly considered one last year but kept running into replacement bezels, wrong hands, etc). |

Love the crown at 12 on this one...very cool!! |

watchdaddy1 wrote: Chris add says cm Sweet wrist shot William!!! Looks really great!!! The original ad noting the 48x42cm (including crown) dimension would be referencing an 18.9x16.5 Inch watch... (Thanks for the wrist shot this late at night)! |

Wonderful watch William! I'm a big fan too and almost snatched one of the Bay last year! I bet it would look great on a Isofrane or Helsonfrane :) Wear it in good health! |

Very cool looking seiko, Bill...kind of funny, I have also started to get back into ther vintage seikos, to mod. I have a 6309, my wife gave me 28 years ago, that still runs but is showing it's age, I have been looking at a couple of sites to have it modded. also looking at a couple ebay sites to pick up old 7002's for modding. Kind of come home to my roots so to speak, first dive watches were seiko's from when I was in the service.. |

No modding for me I'm keeping it ALL original,PATINA, SCRATCHES & ALL which by the way is HARD for me 2 do , I'm a perfectionist & very OCD @ times esp. w/ my TIMEPIECES that said I'm looking to replace the bracelet it's the only missing piece so to speak, but I don't think I'm going to be able to source an original , may have to go w/ a reproduction bracelet.blah.gif |

William that's a cool Bullhead. I've always admired and lusted after them but don't have the balls to actually go after one as I'm paranoid I'm just gonna get some 40 year old piece of crap.... This one looks good and I like your concept of keepin' it real and untouched. Dig it! |

Thanks Mark, I agree I have been looking @ them for literally years, but I've been in contact w/ this fellow for around a year emailing back & forth, pics back & forth that it was original , I wanted no aftermarket parts & pieces, & he insisted that he have the movement serviced b4 I purchased it, 2 wks ago he email'd finally saying it was done .....I'm trying to source the original fishbone bracelet but I don't forsee it being a reality...........I was still learee until it arrived, & I'm quite happy w/ it, he didnt disclose that their r chips out of the crystal on the side but hey I'm cool w/ it (even more of the vintage feel to it) & you can't see them unless it's @ the right angle.. BTW did you say something positive to me |

Congrats on the Bullhead William! It looks great, and as mentioned by others here, like a lot that it is the real deal, with all its patina and wear and tear. A cool one for sure. |

Congrats, William. That's a cool Bullhead and Mrneddles has an amazing one in blue, too. I have one in brown somewhere and will look for it and will post. This is just me and only my opinion.. but to find a Bullhead that's totally original without any repairs done on the movement, springs, pinions, etc etc after 30/33 years is close to incredible. Note the Bullhead is a chrono and being such, even the pusher rings and gaskets have to be replaced. I would suspect the Bullheads that exist today in such great condition have been worked on by a watchsmith. I used to collect vintage Seikos in the late '90s/early '00s and know that a businessman somewhere typically corners all the Seikos he can find. Then he chops them all up and salvages all the parts he can find usable and from there, re-creates several good ones from the lot. I've seen this operation in Bangkok, Manila and HK and literally I've seen tens of kilos of Seikos in all sorts of styles and condition right before my eyes. Wealthy Japanese buyers generally have first dibs on the best ones that are re-created. It's for sentimental reasons that our Japanese WIS-friends do this. Those vintage Seikos represent an industrializing Japan...from what I've been told. Enjoy the Bullhead and the search for the original bracelet. I'll PM you a potential source but I have to agree with Brice....that puppy will look great on an Isofrane in black with brushed retrosicurro buckle. |

Cool info...there are a couple of ebay sellers from the Phillipines who are watch makers and have been selling re-conditioned and modded seikos, 6105,6309,s skx, chronos, etc., I have one in-coming from a seller there named Loyswatch., took a gamble, hope it works out.. |
