It all started on 09-13-2011, when Rob, a member at another forum, posted a thread about the U-Boat FLIGHTDECK 43mm Style 1931. We have been Private Messaging each other since then regarding different styles of FLIGHTDECKS. We both have been hunting for the same/similar style ever since and have given each other “heads up” when and where it was available. When one would come up it was always in an inopportune time due to recent “other” watch transactions, etc…..you guys know what that entails. Because this particular FLIGHTDECK 1931 is a limited production, it was almost always difficult to come by. Between September and November, there was no luck in finding a great deal on a 1931. I decided to jump on the ARCHIMEDE PILOT 42W DIAL with PVD case (see below) and purchased it on 11-02-2011. I figured that this watch would at least satisfy my “hunger” in the meantime. Then I get a PM from Rob on 12-06-2011, stating that there was one that came up at WOW(World of Watches). Rob and I both have had our share of watch purchases to date and knew I (for one) had to hold back with perseverance. Well, I have shown my wife the watch multiple times ever since it showed up on WOW. I get another PM from Rob on 12-15-2011, stating that the watch has been sold! I quickly got on the WOW website and sure enough…..SOLD! I regret pulling the trigger since I had mentioned to Rob that I was saving for a 40mm PAM. Well, on Christmas day, my wife hands me a present and really did not know what it was since the box was, IMO, too large to store a watch. After tearing a piece of the wrapping paper and saw the U-Boat name, man, the rest of the wrapping paper just disintegrated into thin air. You can tell that I am still excited with this one….Let me stop babbling. I LOVE WHITE DIALS!!!! Beautiful pieces there! Frankly, have never been a big fan of U-Boat until I saw your post on the white dial. It looks awesome! As always, Archimede looks stunning. I myself am gonna pull the trigger on the Deck watch! |

Congrats on two great pickups Axelay!!!! Your wife gets major WIS points on the U-Boat...very nicely done, and a sweet Christmas surprise!!! Really like the looks of both of these (the polar white dials combined with the PVD cases on these looks very cool). That U-Boat case size of 43mm is a nice size for that type of case design too...right in the sweet spot for an average sized wrist IMO. Enjoy! |

I try capture the beauty of these pieces with my camera, but you will be blown away when you see them in reality if that makes sense. |
